carr did make a goal line clearance
Yeh and he got a yellow card for a woefully cynical tackle on Lennon - who got the last laugh at his expense :hump::shake::rofl::clap::dance:

I've got to say, out of all those that have left us over the years for 'better things' (Berbasulk, Judas, Keane, Sheringham et al) I feel slightly sorry for Carr. I just think he was duped by the Barcodes, they whispered sweet nothings in his ear, and spirited him away with promises of the Champions League. I bet he wish he had never left, he did well for us eventually. He was turning into a decent player.

He was past his best with us, was never the same player after the double knee injury that kept him out for a year. If you remember how we couldn't wait to get him and Ziege playing together and the anticlimax when Carr finally returned.

He deserves the stick, yeh the barcodes may have deceived him but he was mercenary enough to run his contract down so we had to flog him cheap and then the snide remarks about 'needing to move to a bigger club to win things'. Carrick, Berba, Sheringham, Keane Defoe and even Judas did not make snide remarks upon leaving.

Well.... I still liked him. No animosity towards him, I think he made a bad decision, as opposed to a calculating decision, ie using us as a stepping stone.

Stephen Carr was a shining light in dark days at spurs, similar to Ginola but to a lesser extent. He was a great player who left in less that satisfactory terms - in the eyes of us, the supporters - and he played his part today.

thank you Stephen.

that's the sensible way of looking at his tenure with us. He must have been so frustrated and probably saw Jol/ Santini & Arnesen as yet another false dawn

but the 1st think I thought when the goal went in though was "Stevie - NNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Newcastle had that phase of getting players ahead of us (Carr, Duff, Parker). They ended that phase teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. These things are linked. God knows what they were paying Carr.

I still have a soft spot for Carr. Perhaps he has one for us too and that was a deliberate mistake to let Lennon in.

Wouldn't say no to him coming back to the Lane, especially now that Luka is going to be out for some time.

Interesting though that, Carr suddenly found himself on the halfway line closed down by Hudd, and with Pav on his heels. That's with just seconds left. The error was forced, and once it had happened it was exploited swiftly and ruthlessly. It was the kind of goal we've given away countless times to more powerful times over the years, similar to the winner against WH last week. The PL is an error strewn league, because the games are played at full pelt throughout. I can see plenty more goals like this happening, and hopefully we'll not be on the receiving end.

I think a lot of people are forgetting his attitude when his mate Campbell left.

Always moaning at the other players, went through a stage of not clapping the fans, and developed that muggy strut that he has.

He made a mistake with his comments when leaving, but he contributed so much in his time here in some truly abysmal sides.

had the audacity to leave us for newcastle in search of "success and trophies" lmfao

hated the way he took out lennon yesterday. Wasnt even a tackle. Lennon was running full speed and he just grabbed his chest and threw him out the way. Loved the commentary on it though: "Its Stephen Carr's birthday today and it isn't the kind of card he was hoping for"
