The only way the Spurs statement could be anymore WWE is if we wished him well on his future endeavours.

He was defo stitched up in AON and he had some good players he’d got deals for slip away becasue of Levy’s penny pinching, but ultimately in four years he didn’t bring in one player who exploded and became a star. Good time for him and us to move on from the horrible period since 2019.

I guess if someone in his position is going to leave then the day after the transfer window closes isn't bad timing.

Yet again, Paratici has returned to Italy and specifically his old club for his deals and we have ignored any premier league or championship talent.
Bullshit.

We tried first to get Adama Traore - a premier league talent. Only when that fell through did we go back to Juve.

What PL players were available at a decent price in January?

It’s becoming quite obvious who he was feeding info to on our recruitment, based on certain peoples reactions on the platform I can’t remember if can be referred to here or not.

Isn’t it a bit odd. If he had resigned presumably he would have had to serve a notice period that we would have heard about whether or not he was out of gardening leave (likely). The fact that he has left immediately sounds like he could have been pushed but that’s speculation.

I know some of the ITK have said he has good contacts and is well respected but I think our track record of recruitment under him is poor (although that is not necessarily his fault if he is being overruled but if that was the case surely he would have had enough before now).

I don't read much into this at all. Hitchen is clearly a well-respected professional. If true that Everton and Newcastle are seeking a DoF, and he's on their respective lists, then this is a very natural departure. He's certainly earned the right to be a DoF, and not playing second fiddle. Also, with the addition of Conte, I think it's fairly clear to see that the football side of the club now will be run via AC and FP. Makes sense he'd seek out something more challenging.

Hopefully there is a restructure of the scouting network and we can start to bring in some good players from the lower leagues again.

Leaving instantly always smacks to me of leaving by choice.

Had a look on GoT to see if everton fans had picked up on it, which they have, and are discussing the merits of the task. This struck me as a rather eye-opening claim:

Gentle reminder that not a single trophy has been won in football in the last 20 years by a team that doesnt employ a Director of Football or a person who fits that job description.

So… not that I’m a Spurs fan who expects the worst of every situation… but if he does end up as DoF at Everton with Mosheri’s bottomless pockets… and knows every single one of our potential summer targets that have been identified… that can’t be ideal.

The proof is in the pudding. Our recruitment since he’s been here has been poor. While I don’t have 100% faith in Paratici, we will still have our scouts across the country and across Europe and he is tasked with inproving and increasing the scouting network, maybe something Hitchen couldn’t do. He’ll just be overseeing it. It was said we are reorganising our youth scouting too which I think is needed.

Our recruiting has hardly been stellar with him at the helm. Let’s see what paratici can do. If he doesn’t improve it then it will be on to the next guy.
