Seconded. I can't remember an more inept 90 mins of refereeing in my life, and that's quite a few games.

Thats fine, I have vented about the Ref myself, just dont see the need for a thread slagging off Stoke for playing football (in inverted commas) a different way to us. I think it comes across as sour grapes on that front.

I didn't see them playing it around mate, I saw them humping it long and trying to gain yardage for the throw ons. It was a terrible display of 'football' from them.

I'm not disagreeing that they were value for their first goal, but their second came completely against the run of play, from yet another long throw. Their RM Shotton couldn't actually kick the ball or control it, he was only on the pitch for his throw ins.

And he looks like a fucking tranny.

So you respect a team that hoofs the ball into the box every chance they get? A team that kicks and push's players all over the place and get away with it every week? A team that waste time any chance they get and take ages for long throw ins. A team that trys and cheats and plays horrible football.

Yes there system works but as I said earlier would you not want to win the nice attractive passing way which we should all love. If you want to go see horrible football go and support teams like stoke the new wimbledon. Fucking disgrace.

Fuck Stoke, its the referee who I'm utterly disgusted with, that was an utterly shocking performance in absolutely every sense.

We all know what Stoke are like, its bully boy football and it works for them but the referees are the people who should be policing parts of that strategy more stringently.

Never mind that particular aspect for a second but some of his decisions were utterly baffling and obviously that applies to the lines men as well, I mean just mind boggling stuff.

Our first half performance was terrible and I'm also totally baffled as to why it took us so long to get going...a cold afternoon in Stoke had probably something to do with it. Ultimately we lost this game in the first half, rarely can you have such a bad half away from home, conceding two goals, and expect to recover.

What really hurts is that we did recover in terms of a performance for only the referee to take a result away from us through sheer and utter incompetence.

Had we equalised in that totally bewildering sequence of play were we where denied everything, I think we would of gone on to win.

Reason Arse hate them is because Le Arse cannot deal with the physical natural of Stoke's game and get beaten.

Foy had a massive effect on the game, but their two goals came from something we should have been working on all week and should be able to deal with. At times in the first half we were actually backing away from challenges. We got out muscled, we needed to keep the ball and we didn't. Stoke are physical, but lets not fool ourselves, what they do is legal (sort of) and we couldn't deal with it. When we started doing what we do well, knocking it about and attacking at pace, we had the better of it.

Should put the second half in perspective though, despite that, we pulled ourselves together and were it not for Foy, we would have drawn, possibly won. This is a new Spurs side, but shit happens, today was the shit.

Have a look at the table though, still third, still playing well, all teams have blips. Sunderland next, onwards and upwards.

Foy and his cronies made it that they were one short of a rugby team, which would've fitted right in oop north and along with the rendition of swing low......

Errr no, I said earlier in the thread that I wouldnt want to watch them play every week.

Its not against the law for them to play the way they do. I dont like it anymore than you do but its the way they set up and they do it better than anyone and has brought them reasonable success.

Just because you dont agree with it doesnt mean its a 'fucking disgrace', hell you can find as many people who dont like the way Barca play passing the ball till its done to death. if you dont like them are they a 'fucking disgrace' as well? It smacks of sour grapes IMO.

Harry deserves real credit for making those changes at HT, they worked a treat.

I utterly, totally despise the way Stoke play football and vehemently wish they were not in the Premier League. Their fans are also ****s.

But you're just pissing in the wind complaining about their tactics. We know they're a rugby team. Today was nothing new. I was far more annoyed with how badly we dealt with predictable tactics (first half) and the astonishing extent to which a gutless turd of a referee allowed the honking mouth-breathing cowpeople of Staffordshire to influence him (second half) than I was about Stoke's scratch-your-own-eyes-out-with-a-rusty-spoon-hideous-but-mid-table-Premier-League-forevermore-effective tactics.

This just smacks of being bad losers. Im glad I dont have to watch them play very week but they play to their strengths and its effective for them. They could change it up and play silky football like Wigan or Blackpool and achieve fuck all.

We didnt compete with them first half, which was our downfall.

Amen to this. We sound like the pussies that Arsenal are. How boring would the Premier League be if everyone played the same way? The referee should be able to make sure their physical approach stays witin the limits of the game.

On another note, I have had the misfotune of having visited Stoke. It is a wretched place, with massive unemployment, and little prospects for many people. The team have given the town some pride, and some idenity, and whilst there way may not be the Tottenham way, isn't that what football is supposed to b all about?

Sound like Arsenal fans in here, I have no problem with them, they play direct, they're physical and they're effective. Contrast in styles makes a game more interesting. Despite how they played, and how well they played today, had the ref made the right calls we would have won.

Exactly! :hump: Not that I wanted to watch Stoke every single week, but to be honest I quite like their style. In today's massive flood of teams wanting to play like those Barcelona cheating wankers, resulting in all the messing and boring endless passing around the box, frequently with no end product, they're like a revelation. Classic 4-4-2, speedy wingers, lots of crossing, solid defense etc. And I like it even more everytime they beat the scum, preferably from a long throw or a lucky corner, with all the Gooners including their pedo manager whinging around and complaining about Rory Delap not being a footballer...

I used to admire tony pullis for what he had achieved with stoke, even though his way of playing was awful, but it worked. now he has no excuses, he's just spent 30 million on players and they still just find ways to play anti-football, its horrid to watch and i just wish they would do the decent thing and get relegated.

They are Wimbledon all over, what they do isn't legal as they are a dirty set of wankers, who man handle players in both penalty areas and if referee's picked up on that, they wouldn't survive the season.

A fucking disgrace cause Barca pass the ball around the pitch lovely, all one, two touch stuff? Ive never heard anyone say that? Surely anyone who understands football would want to be able to do that? Keeping the ball, playing nice entertaining football, one touch passing. Surely as tottenham fans this is what we want to see?

You dont see Norwich or Swansea playing like Stoke. I respect Managers who get there teams playing football. Swansea even pass it out from the back.Is there not a stat that they pass more than the top clubs in the prem or somthing?

To be fair we have beaten them twice up there in the last two seasons....and really it would of been 3 if Foy hadn't fucked up beyond belief.
