Lol. Liverpool fan whines about Liverpool fans whining shock. Young people also have a different opinion than me shock.

How old is this idiot?

I read it. And it’s not new. Its basically saying I am now over 40 and my voice is more important. People don’t agree with me

boo hoo.

pathetic.

I will be honest. People that write blogs are needy. And more pathetic when they ask for money to read more content like he has done.

old man doesn’t get young people shock.

old man that supports Liverpool whines is more apt and true

he‘s happy with the status quo. or should I say The Pacemakers?

that’s fine. But don‘t knock others point of view because you think you are more clever. I’m not backing trolls but it’s very easy to find 3 idiots on Twitter and make their content a reason to besmirch a generation.

pathetic whining scouser imo

yeah, imo

The phrase “opinions are like arseholes, everyone’s got one” has just come to mind for this thread.

You completely missed the point if you actually sat back and read it. Yes, it is through Liverpool glasses, but change the club and it fits the social media "fan" of today. It's not an age thing. It's a social media thing.

Something tells me you don't realise it, but you are coming across like these so called trolls yourself.

As one of those foreigners that has never been to a Spurs match outside of when they've visited the states, I agree wholeheartedly. I originally started following Spurs as one of my teachers was from Enfield and his mention of Tottenham was the first time I had heard about them. I liked what I saw on the pitch and started following them, and had friends who followed other clubs so it made for some good banter and rivalry.

When I joined a "supporters club" that did local match watches at a bar, it was fun to connect with those people as well. But then you started to see some of the moaners coming to the bar, and it became depressing to go watch the match, because you knew those folks would be vocally annoying the entire time. It wasn't about supporting the club. After a draw or loss (or even a 1-0 where we didn't play well but scraped a result) it was just depressing. So I stopped going.

I gave up on living and dying with every result a long time ago. You can't let something you don't control affect your everyday life. I can't wait to visit the stadium as things begin returning to normal. But the negativity makes it hard to be an "online" fan. I want to celebrate the victories and be entertained but if that doesn't happen my day won't be any different. I avoid this place for at least a few days after a loss.

You can be reasoned and nuanced after a bad match, but it just seems like most would rather scream "Nuno Out" and "ENIC Out" or "Tanguy should be fired into the sun" to release frustrations.
A real shame to read about the supporters club - you'd think that would be a good experience for most and create the closest matchday atmosphere you'd be able to get/enjoy.

I was generalising about the social media fan elements a bit and to take your point on the kinds of fans which bring things down, the reactionary, extreme knee-jerk response is definitely not isolated to fans from abroad or social media trolls. There are plenty of them out there sadly.

I get to a few games when my friends can't make use of their season tickets and i see and hear one or two of the regulars just sort of sit there and moan for 90mins. I know they've paid their money and can do what they want with it but for me it's always been the antithesis to why i'd go and see the game live. You're there to support and be the 12th man if you can; appreciate some performances (like the weekend) make that difficult, but there's absolutely a team/fan relationship that feeds off either side and is partly why i still try and get to games when the opportunity crops up, but definitely a few people about who just don't see it that way.

He makes it quite clear its about younger fans, under 22. Particularly ones that don't go to the stadium. Or don't live in the area despite him being from Dublin. But he's different he 'gets' Liverpool FC and it's culture.

It's well written but it's well written whining imo. Twitter is a cess pool and says things I think are wrong shock.

Can't stand fans that virtual signal they are better supporters than others. You see it on here a lot too. Hooligans/Ultras believe they are the pinnacle of fandom when in reality they are the worse.

You are free to say what you want about your club. I am in ardent belief Levy is a clueless, inept chancer only in his position because of nepotism. You can think I'm wrong but it doesn't make you a 'better' fan. We're all just fans.

I just don't understand why people do things (and spend money on things) that make them miserable. If I wasn't taking any enjoyment out of a game and all it did was wind me up, I'd just stop going. And sadly, that's exactly what happened with the supporter club.

Good article that's tough to disagree with.

I also agree with many who say that Spurs Chat is more and more reflecting these types of opinions and attitudes. I mostly avoid that part of the site when we lose or play badly as it's the same few people saying the same thing over and over. Saying that, perhaps the fix is for those of us who perhaps aren't so extreme to post more often as it might have an influence?

Naaah can't be bothered with that!

D&D and Chat are the best parts of the whole site anyway!

I feel there is a mild lack of self-awareness in this post.

On the one hand, I would expect this response from someone who doesn't mock others point of view that doesn't come across like they think they are more clever than everyone else but at the same time, it makes complete sense that someone would reject the sentiment of the article if they are exactly the kind of person being described.

Liverpool chat? In Spurs Chat!?! It actually relates to many many fans and perfectly puts into words a problem I, and seemingly many others, have when discussing the modern game. Whole conversations descend into drivel due to the appearance of the sort of fan mentioned here. I’ll shut up now and let this gentleman do the talking.

Head, meet nail. Can we pin this to the Transfer thread next window??

It's the same at the matches, I'm a season ticket holder and there is a fairly loud guy behind me with a squeaky voice that is quite annoying whatever he says...
All game you get
"x player is shit"
"referee is shit"
His actual appreciation of what is going on is really poor, one of the players will be having a great game but one misplaced pass and they are "shit"
Yep you pay your money and have 'a right' to say what you want within reason but being negative just for the sake of it is depressing.
I binned FB and twitter as I found it a depressing cess pool of baiting, bitching and abuse, not something that really appealed to me whatsoever.

Honestly this is so, so pertinent right now. The negativity and entitlement is absolutely unbelievable. And we can't just say "oh, that's Twitter for you". This place is frankly becoming an unbearable cesspit and I'm finding myself spending less and less time here. No offence intended whatsoever to the staff who do an amazing job, but you'd honestly think we'd lost 5-0 today, not drawn 2-2 away with a side that played Champions League last season. Our online fans are en masse taking out their anger at not having got over the line to a major trophy a few years back on a manager and many players who weren't even here at the time, and to be honest I think that's very sad to see. Whatever happened to getting behind your team?!

Well said. I have stopped coming here at times. I love to read in-depth analysis of what went right or what went wrong. but all the bellyaching posts just dominates everything now.

Oh well. Life will go on. Here's hoping we can recover and beat Chelski.

I've never met an entitled spurs fan in real life or on here if I'm honest.

But when you see the same failed managerial appointments, the same lack of ambition from the top you, as a fan, have a right to question the plan from the top.

What makes me laugh the most about this thread is people agreeing that the transfer whiners are the real idiots when it's quite clear from traffic on here that this site is the most busiest during those periods and the ITKs get hundreds of likes for saying we are looking at player a or player b. Who never come because a certain chairman is not just risk averse but used those windows as a way to generate season ticket sales.

Come match day of course you get behind the team. But you are allowed to point out 2 decades of mismanagement from the person actually running the club and making poor decisions.

That doesn't make me entitled. It makes me exasperated.
