Ironically, this is the truth.

There is no way Levy will make signings based purely on a perceived deficit within the squad.
Factors that influence our transfers:

1. Availability,
2. What agents we need to deal with does he know them, has he dealt with them before?
3. Potential future value
4. Players coming towards the end of contracts/last year so available for cheaper prices
5. Players agents are touting
6. Players people within his network of 'scouts' recommend (Broomfield, Baldini, maybe Sherwood, Commoli still, Pleat)
7. Financial weakness in other clubs
8. Players rated statistically highly

Particularly the players running down his contract and thus comparatively cheap/good value. Levy will never not sign these type of players and often has one or two lined up for the summer.

Konoplyanka seems the main one with credible links at the moment.

I did laugh at that bit in the statement, does anyone seriously believe we'll by what we need rather than what we can get on the cheap?

I know what you mean, it would be just our luck etc...but I just can't see United getting rid of Moyes after one season without addressing the weaknesses of their squad first. He'll be there next season, absolutely certain of it. And that result/performance last night has probably just about cemented that I reckon.

Even if he's not, I don't think they'll go for Van Gaal. Klopp would be top of their list imo.

But as you said, our luck and all that.

We only need holtby back

A LB and another CB

The fully fit squad is completely fine, just needs a top man in charge to organise and play them correctly

You are presumably assuming that no summer signings from 2013 will be sold (Lamela, Paulinho especially) and we will hold on to Vertonghen and Lloris.

I'd suggest that in addition to a LB and CB we also need a proper passing central midfielder in the Modric/Carrick mold, hopefully at the expensive of the definition of 'flatters to deceive', Mr.Mousa Dembele and ideally a top attacking forward to play with Lamela and Soldado/Adebayor.

What LB's are there which we can realistically get and improve us?

I guess Contrao is out of the question now

I know of a few - Ricardo Rodriguez, Daley Blind, Ben Davies, the kid at Sevilla (can't remember his name now), and probably a few others.

Given how shit Rose is, I'd say most of the left backs around could improve us.

A manager and a left back are a must.

Depending on what happens with Kaboul's contract we might need a centre back.

Anything else will be to replace players that leave.

Also if Vertonghen continues to play like a drunk ostrich that just doesn't care anymore.

Even if Utd did sack Moyes, I think they'd go for a longer term and younger manager than LVG.

As for strengthening key positions:

A new manager is a must, as is a proper LB. Depending on Kabouls fitness\contract situation then maybe a new CB.

Actually another that I've noticed recently is the kid at Sunderland - Marcus Alonso. He's been good whenever I've watched Sunderland recently. Reckon we could pick him up on the cheap if Sunderland go down this season.

Edit: Just looked it up and he's on loan from Fiorentina, didn't know that Sunderland don't own him.

This season's been a bit rock back and forth, rock from side to side. I'm hoping next season's going to be a bit more rock n roll. (y)

No more AVB indie music shite.

Just speechless with any of you who don't see the immediate need for a LW. Even the left back situation is somewhat debatable, but we don't have a single player in the squad comfortable playing left winger.

1. LW
2. CB because we likely won't have a choice
3. LB
4. dynamic CM (pacy BTB or DLP) - personally I think this would be more beneficial than a new LB, but a new manager just may be able to get something from Holtby or Paulinho in the position, but I think it's unlikely (still very much want to sell Paulinho in the summer since he's lazy on top of just not being all that great, and such a sale would go far in purchasing other areas of need)
5. striker if Ade is sold per his upcoming wages

I have met Edgar Davids really nice bloke but he honestly could barley tie his own shoe laces, i think he has had people do everything for him all his life and dont think he could cross the road without help. Great guy but i dont see it :)

oh i dont think it matters who we sell apart from Eriksen and i would like to keep Kaboul and Sandro the rest we have i honestly dont care. Loris would be a big loss but not the end of the world i think finding some passion would be more important than signings people that will tackle hard get in your face really piss you off if you were playign against them we miss Wilson P and Scotty P.

As both Ade and Soldado are getting on a bit, another striker in his early twenties is also required.

There won't be that much change one or two players max, probably have to sell a few players. Forget about Shaw last summer was a one in the million, we won't buy like that again, unless Lamela shows form.

Caulker ticks one big Levy box (Unless the story about why he left is true)

1. Will be cheaper than he sold him for

It will also allow him to sell Vertonghen if required or pension off Kaboul (unlikely?)
Then spend on something else.
