Ironically, this is the truth.
There is no way Levy will make signings based purely on a perceived deficit within the squad.
Factors that influence our transfers:
1. Availability,
2. What agents we need to deal with does he know them, has he dealt with them before?
3. Potential future value
4. Players coming towards the end of contracts/last year so available for cheaper prices
5. Players agents are touting
6. Players people within his network of 'scouts' recommend (Broomfield, Baldini, maybe Sherwood, Commoli still, Pleat)
7. Financial weakness in other clubs
8. Players rated statistically highly
Particularly the players running down his contract and thus comparatively cheap/good value. Levy will never not sign these type of players and often has one or two lined up for the summer.
Konoplyanka seems the main one with credible links at the moment.
I did laugh at that bit in the statement, does anyone seriously believe we'll by what we need rather than what we can get on the cheap?
