Get me one more CB and clear the team down a fair bit and then we can into the season better than we left it last year.

It is kind of amazing to think about but among:

Vicario, Udogie, VdV, Bissouma, Maddison and Sarr - we could effectively have 6 new starters who combined for 1200 minutes last season for us.

Add in Lo Celso (and Richarlison if Kane leaves) and we will have had a massive turnover, in addition to brining in a new manger/style/tactics...
Yeah weirdly it's actually one of the benefits of having such a bloated squad with such a mish-mash of styles and ages.

We can actually transform the squad a lot quicker by bringing backups, rejects and youth that Conte didn't really fancy straight into the squad/first 11 rather than needing to build an entire new team from scratch.

Lol. People on here actually complaining about the potential option of Laporte. Probably the same people that complain about Dier and Davies.

Laporte is an instant upgrade and one that can cover across both central defensive positions.

Okay I think a conversation may need to happen about perisic being a LW option.

If we can’t bring in Doku, Williams or someone of that style and quality then yes we should probably just keep Perisic for this season and use Solomon on the right for now.

Be nice to have 2/3 gone by the weekend, preferably fringe players who aren't needed. The squad is way too bloated, we could probably field 3 teams at the minute filled with international players.

Doku is such a good player! Will probably cost a fortune though.

For me, short one more CB (someone comfortable on the left), maybe a CM if Hojbjerg does go, and another forward, preferably RWF, maybe a CF of Kane does go, albeit those last two roles could be combined.

Vicario, *Forster, *Austin
Emerson, Porro, *Spence
(Udogie), Reguillon, *Sessegnon
Bissouma, *Skipp
Romero, Dier
Van de Ven, Sutalo/Schurrs
Kulusevski, New Player, Gil/Perisic
Bentancur, (Sarr)
Kane/New Player, Richarlison, (Veliz)
*Maddison, Lo Celso
Son, Soloman

24 listed (allowing for a new CB and RWF to be O/S), 7 homegrown (6 if Kane goes), so no issues regarding overseas players. Extra CM would need to be homegrown or U21, or at the expense of Perisic/Gil maybe. Fati continues to be linked, and wouldn’t need registering, but more a LWF, maybe we see Soloman as fine on the right. That would free a non-HG CM space.
Caveats, Davies replacing Reguillon at LB opens up a space, likewise Gabri Veiga in CM means we wouldn’t need to register him this year.

Tapsoba and keep Kane and it will have been a very good window

Van Der Ven 34m
Tapsoba 55m
Phillips 2m
Mddison 40m
Solomon free
Veliz 13m

Total 160m

IMO it's shaping up like:

Non HG:
1. Vicario
2. Emerson - 3. Porro - 4. Romero - 5. Sanchez - 6. Laporte - 7. VDV - 8. Reguilon
9. Bentancur - 10. Lo Celso - 11. Bissouma - 12. PEH
13. Kulusevski - 14. Solomon - 15. Son - 16. Perisic
17. Richarlison

HG:
1. Forster - 2. Austin
3. Davies
4. Skipp - 5. Maddison
6. Kane

U21:
1. Udgoie - 2. Phillips
3. Sarr
4. Veliz

That's already a squad of 27 players.

I think we look to bring in a midfielder to replace PEH, ideally someone HG.

I think we also look to bring in a LW to replace Perisic, if PEH replacement is HG then LW can be non HG and vice versa.

It could also be possible to drop Reguilon from the LB squad role as Davies can rotate for Udogie who's looked excellent so far.

So in summary we can easily add 1 or maybe 2 non HGs without it disrupting things too much, or if we sell Reguilon and/or PEH that opens up another spot.

We then need to offload:

Lloris, Spence, Dier, Tanganga, Ndombele and Gil this window.

Without signing Tapsoba I’d describe it as underwhelming. At some point do we just cut our losses on some of the deadwood and eat the loss? We seem to be hamstrung in what we can do as long as these players are under contract.

How is addressing the holes in the squad underwhelming? Tapsoba isn't going to make or break our season, and there is talk of another CB coming in, just not him as his club want too much.

Also signing a top quality first choice centre back will also keep romero on his toes. Right now he could have a shocker after shocker and still play

Wouldn't it be great if we don't have to rely on romero this season?

Every top club needs to have 3 quality first choice centre backs for 2 positions and a youngster for the 4th

We are one high quality centre back from getting to that position which will turn our weakest position prior to the window to arguably the strongest

That’s assuming the top quality centre backs who have not played for us yet, turn out to be top quality.

After pre-season my feelings are we absolutely need one more pacey CB.

Lloris, Rodon, Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Spence and Ndombele all need to leave the club one way or another.

Reggy and Hojbjerg are dispensible if we're confident they can be upgraded this window and we get the right offer.

I would love to see the rumoured ruthlessness in trimming the squad.
Why would you tear up a contract if the window is still open though? You could always get an offer for someone. I expect the ruthlessness in the last week or two.

By ruthlessness I don't necessarily mean ripping up contracts, but rather selling players below their "market value" if that what it takes and the sooner we get rid of the deadwood the better for squad harmony and potential new signings
