The time of year is approaching that we love and hate in equal measure: the summer transfer window.

The purpose of this thread is simply to enquire as to what positions people think we need strengthening in. Not necessarily names, as that's too hard to predict. But which positions do we think Harry will strengthen in the Summer?

For the last couple of years we've had two or three signings. No overhauls, just tweaking.

Personally, I think we should be looking for...

Priority: 1 striker to go straight into the first team. (supposing we only get rid of one or none of the current lot. I'd be surprised if we got rid of 2 or more)

Semi-priority: 1 central defender to go straight into the first team (Dawson is a very good centre back, but he can be improved upon, that much is clear)

Luxury signings: a new right back, a new attacking midfielder.

Two strikers - Hulk and Falcao, would love Rossi but he's probably going to Barca.

Not overly worried by other positions - although Marin would be nice.

We will probably sell 8/9 players - Hutton,DosSantos,Bentley,O'Hara,Kranjcar,Keane and 2 from Pavlyuchenko,Crouch and Defoe and may retire or let go King and Woodgate.

I think we need to bring in 5 players 3 strikers,1 attacking midfielder and a CM who can score goals.
Add them to the youngsters we have coming through and we will have more than enough to step up another level and really challenging for trophies.

People that are saying Wickham, have you seen him play much?? I haven't been too impressed but haven't seen him that much so can't really judge.

I think we need more speed, especially to back-up Bale and Lennon. We have plenty of player who can pick out a pass and come short for the ball, so I want a player or two who isn't afraid to run in behind. So....

Two strikers - One phyiscal guy and one quick guy with good movement.

Winger* - Competion for Bale and Lennon. I'd like a leftie who can play on the right, or a righty who can play on the left as something different than two players who like to get to the byline. If he can play on both sides that's a bonus. Preferable quick.

Mdifielder* - If VDV get's injured we don't have many goals from the middle, and if we're going 4-5-1 next year that'll be a problem. So a goal scoring midifelder, preferable with pace as well.

Left-back* - We need back-up and competiton for BAE, especially with if Bale is staying left midfield and the ANC coming up next year.

Centre back* - King and Woodgate are probably gone and Gallas probably has one more year at the top, so we need to replace them. Dawson and Kaboul can be upgraded too, but not a major priority just yet.

Right back* - If we don't think Walker is ready yet.

Goalkeeper* - Backup and competition for Gomes.

*I'll be pissed off if we spend a lot of money upgrading these positions without spending big on a striker or two.

I'd take a LM. If Benny is injured you can drop Bale back into LB and play the other LM.

I'll get slated but id like Young.

On the winger front I'd agree so long as Townsend isn't deemed ready. If he's deemed ready then he's a skillful, fast winger who's excellent with his left, good with his right, confident with his shot and a good crosser. Plus we have Pienaar too as the 'other type of wideman' back up.

The goalscoring midfielder is already here in Niko Kranjcar but he'll never stay after the way he's been overlooked so I reckon a replacement will be needed.

Definitely agree on the left back part.

Not sure about centre back. Caulker might be deemed ready himself to be in the squad as one of our 4/5 cb's. Gallas, Dawson and Kaboul will already be there. What becomes of King and Woodgate, who knows, but even without them there's even South African International Khumalo who was playing v.well for now relegated Preston. Kaboul will be immense in my opinion, there's a reason Laurent Blanc (probably knows a thing or two about good CB's) called him up to France before his injury.

To get a new right back we'll probably have to sell 3 of the current four (kyles, hutt, charlie) which I don't think is feasable. I reckon we'll sell one kyle (naughton most likely) and one of the two experienced ones and less Walker and the remaining of the experienced ones fight it out.

Once again, agree on the goalie.

Why would you advocate signing players that you've barely seen play?
