I watched some of the Lyon-Toulouse match earlier and Lacazette again scored and got the winning assist (that's 45 league goals now for him since last season). I've watched a lot of Lyon's matches lately, as they are a super entertaining side, and his form has been amazing. The guy works his ass off all game long, too. I understand the argument regarding whether he'd want to come if he wasn't a guaranteed starter, but I think he'd force his way in one way or another if he was displaying this level in England.

Frankly, if you look at the Heung Min Son transfer, there was no guarantee he'd be a starter at Spurs when he left a cozy place at Leverkusen. Lamela, Eriksen, and Chadli were all established players, yet we had no problem spending 22 million pounds to sign him and the increase in wages was enough to get Son to come to us. If none of the super clubs (United, City, etc) are interested in Lacazette, then I don't think he'd turn us down if we'd be willing to meet Lyon's price.
Do you watch Marseille a lot? Because I think Batshuayi is the one we want.

Yes. I've posted a fair bit in this thread about him. I like him a lot, too. I think Lacazette is a much more complete player and a way better fit for us, as he can play anywhere in a front four. Batshuayi isn't as good as a wing-forward, but he's a very good developing striker. His workrate is good, his finishing is excellent, and he is very difficult to knock off the ball, as his lower body strength is excellent. He's younger than Lacazette, so there is room for improvement.

Two other things I like about Batshuayi versus someone like Berahino, for instance are:

-He creates for teammates, as he has 9 assists this season (Berahino has 1 assist in the last two seasons)

-He's excellent at scoring goals off the bench. Since November of 2014, Batshuayi has scored 9 goals in 20 substitution appearances. He had 6 last season under Bielsa and has 3 in 4 this season. Have we scored 9 substitution goals in that same time period as a collective? I don't think we have, but I could be wrong. This is an important metric to keep in mind if you're looking for that back-up striker to Kane that you hope can turn around games like the two Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal matches.

Curate's egg of a performance from Boufal tonight against PSG. Some general observations:

- His off the ball work would definitely need improvement, both in and out of possession. When offering himself as an outlet to team-mates, he either comes towards the ball or stays static. Not enough movement.
- When the opposition had the ball he wasn't an effective presser. Although Lille did have a lot of big defensive players in their midfield, so perhaps their coach instructed him to exert less energy defending, being their biggest matchwinner.
- His dribbling style is very much show enough of the ball to the opponent to draw them into the challenge, then take it away at the last minute. Very much in the Chrissy Waddle vein. Won two free-kicks from Rabiot that firstly resulted in his team's goal, and then Rabiot being sent off.
- Takes very decent set pieces, was on corners from either side and other dead balls put into the box.
- Showed a willingness to go outside on his weaker left foot on occasion, although his prefered habit is to drift in from the lrft onto his stronger right.
- In some ways difficult to judge his performance, PSG controlled large swathes of the game, apart from a 15 minute spell in the 2nd half, which ironically ended with Rabiot's sending off and PSG being gifted their winner.
- He was up against a strong, pacey opponent tonight in Aurier, he won't face fullbacks of that calibre every week should he move to the PL. Also Lille seemed to lack anyone in central midfield who could look up and spread the ball out wide early, usually any possession he got was slow and with PSG able to get men back.
- All in all, wasn't greatly impressive, but his team were greatly outmatched in most areas of the park, he does possess great dribbling ability, and some quality on the ball. Definitely would be a rough diamond, if we were to purchase.

Am I correct when someone theorised last summer transfer window that the N'jie transfer might have been some sort of 'relationship builder' with the intention of buying Lacazette for next season??

The rumours about transfers this summer has really warmed my heart. Now it seems like we are tracking the kind of players I have always wanted. Players that can get us to the next level mixed with exciting squad players. Below you will see some of the players we have been linked to:
Alexandre Lacazzette
Samuel Umtiti
Ousmane Dembele
Michy Batshuayi
Sofiane Boufal
Shkodran Mustafi

Based on this list, I feel positive about the future.

I would like to be linked to more exciting players, of course. Let's have a fantastic summer transfer window this year!

Not sure but they did have a good understanding on the pitch from the YouTube highlights I've watched.

Could we not get both?

If we moved on a couple of attackers like Chadli for example.

Is that like Real Madrid buying Modric so they could buy Bale.

Think we could do with a big powerful center forward as back-up to Kane. The kind that we can bring on against teams that park the bus against us and ruffle some feathers in the box

Or Breel Embolo?
We haven't been linked with him at all recently, so I doubt it.

Could we not get both?

If we moved on a couple of attackers like Chadli for example.
If we had unlimited funds we could.

That would go completely against Poch's philosophy.
