Wanyama has 12 months on his contract this summer. If he doesn't resign they have little option but to sell. Even with the TV deal clubs still can't afford to let players walk away for nothing.

I know it's a small sample size but I've never seen Wanyama have a good game against us.

Has always seemed a bit ponderous, despite being so physically imposing.

I think it will be a tougher season, but those teams are going to have new managers and new squads, and with the Euro's not as much time. Our squad have most probably been hurting since WBA, but I honestly feel they will of learnt a lot this season, to take into next.

when we get our new stadium, if we can keep this squad with a few vital additions teams that come to park the bus will find it so much tougher, and there will be so much more space for us to find.

I'm really looking forwards to the future, just hope I live long enough to ram our future success down the Chavski, Goons and Rawks throats(y)

Like what your saying but there is a big doubt in my mind that we will ever have a better chance than we have just had to be champions.
This was a great chance and although this has been a magnificent season we did blow it slightly, and you cant see the usual top four being as bad collectivly again in one season.

Idrissa Gueye from Villa. Second only to Kante in tackles and interceptions. Good passing ability and has high energy levels. Has been Villa best player this year.
Would be an interesting signing actually. Is he capable of pushing Dier??

Got to agree with this.
Batshuayi appears to have become the front runner for the Kane alternative, Lacazette and Berahino have fallen out of favour, maybe they are not interested, maybe we aren't, who knows, but Batshuayi as a former Bielsa player wouldn't be stunned by a high press system, should hopefully have knowledge of playing with our other Belgians to help ease the transition also. Big, strong, quick, goalscorer.

Boufal, or previously Yunus Malli, it's clear we're being linked with some additional defence splitting options. Wasn't urgent in my opinion, however, having different types of keys to unlock a stubborn defence isn't a bad thing, so long as the overall balance of the squad isn't detrimentally affected.

Dendoncker, again the Belgian link, also fits the bill stylistically. That's the key factor, the DM's ability to sit back into CB and form a back 3 as the fullbacks push high up the pitch. Dier does it, so anyone playing instead of him needs that ability, so we don't have to change tactics with a change in personnel. There are 3 alternatives here, each with their own selling points. Topal was heavily linked in the press as having agreed a Bosman free transfer this summer, very experienced, still very athletic too despite his age, could be be a candidate to bridge the gap for another year or so whilst Ball gains experience? Wanyama's name repeatedly crops up, known to Pochettino, knows the league, and also CL experience. Agreeing a fee with Southampton could be an issue. Finally, the left field option, Kirschoff from Sunderland, already used to PL, been on a big upslope since his debut against us, to be a standout player in what otherwise is a pretty poor team. Likely to be readily available upon their relegation. All options fit the Dier blueprint, so all good. Also give added cover at CB, so Carter-Vickers can be seen as RCB backup with a bit of extra support there from the DM options if needed in bigger games.

Finally, my only other area of concern is the Dembele role in midfield. CM powerhouse albeit not a DM as such. I don't think it's Carroll's role, Mason maybe, but not to that level. Bentaleb probably has it in his locker if he can get right, physically and mentally. I hope Bentaleb is the answer, but if not, then maybe that's another area to address, but Bentaleb would at least command a significant enough fee to recruit with. Alternatively could Alli be the answer?

Selling Fazio, Yedlin, Carroll, Chadli.
Bringing 3 in.

Lloris, Walker, Rose, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dier, Dembele, Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Kane.

Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer, Dendoncker (etc?), Bentaleb, Son, Bouffal (etc?), Njie, Batshuayi.

A solid 2 players per position, like for like, plus added depth at CB/DM (Ball), CM (Mason) and AM (Pritchard). 25 man squad.

McGee, Walker-Peters, Ogilvie, Maghoma, Walkes, Amos/Lesniak, Winks, Oduwa, Onomah, Ward/Tracey, Harrison.
All available added depth, or sent on loan to develop further.

That would be my ideal summer, no major changes, just some subtle fine tuning of the squad balance. Get it done early for a full preseason together.

Good shout on the additions needed would really improve us the only problem i can see is the last sentence, there is little or no chance of getting this done early most of it will take place last couple of weeks.

Not sure whether to put this here or bot but can't see any where else atm....

Told we have been working hard to get two deals done very quickly, but at the same time did not want to upset/unfocus the current playing squad while so much was still at stake.Things may progress more quickly now but that was speculation on my mates part. Both forwards/attacking players, and MB is 100% one of them.

We want to beat the PL player auction that will certainly comence once teams know their final positions and what they can offer incomings.

As before from the current active playing squad we are not looking to sell anyone, but good offers would be considered for a few of the fringe players.

Heard nothing on Edwards alleged contract refusal.

Oh yeah almost forgot... MP has not yet signed a new contract(has every intention of doing so), the announcement was made early to help negotiations for the potential signings + extensions for current players.

We'll need to sell a couple of fringe players else how else will we break even on transfers at the end of the window.;)

Rather it translates to " of animals" Alot of Kenyan surnames were given in relation to where the person is from or what time of day they were born and even their family profession.

Wanyeki transalates to "of grass/land" ( family probably farmed).
Wangombe translates to "of cows" ( family probably herded cows)
He is from the same tribe as my mum. Wanyama means "meat eater" or people of meat meat person/people.

Can attribute a person who eats a lot of meat in kikuyu as Wanyama.

Not saying you're wrong though.

I'd have been more comfortable if it had been DM and CF sorted/sorting early, but hey that's still progress. I think we're in a stronger position to get things done early this year. Our league position, impending CL campaign, and the squad/managers reputation has probably earned us some decent favor. We're a more attractive proposition than ever before, so if there was a time to get in early, it's now. The fact the squad is so close to being really well rounded, in terms of balance and depth, plus the CL income and PL TV rights, maybe for once we may be prepared to overpay slightly just to avoid the bidding war as the summer roles on. Or maybe our scouting is paying off and targets have been picked and negotiations started way in advance. Either way, very positive.
I'd guess if it's two attacking players, Batshuayi and Bouffal, unless it's Dembele or some other under the radar signing instead.

We've made 50 million off transfers in the last 5 years. Not breaking even would not be a bad thing if it didn't eventuate. I'm sure levy, poch, mitchell and co know what they're doing though, they'll have a plan, seems as though its already in progress actually

I would assume that the 2nd attacking player we're looking at is Dembele from Rennes. It could also be Boufal but I'm still wary of his attitude and the fact that he just picked up quite a bad injury.

There will be other chances for us to challenge for the title this is the beginnings not the end imo with this squad.

Leicester's conditions were perfect, the whole country plus Hollywood were rooting for them and in fairness to them they deserved it because the league doesn't lie ( they beat us at WHL) plus Leicester really only had to concentrate on one game a week....even had we beat both WBA and Chelski we'd still be a point behind so Leicester was in the driving seat from Xmas.

After seeing the link the other day to Leicester and William carvalho I would like to think we could match the terms they would offer and would be more appealing to a great young talent like that. He would be a great midfield destroyer and perfect partner for either dier or dembele.
With dembele ban looking like being extended we need someone to partner dier at the beginning and champions league against certain teams we need 2DM

If Carvalho goes to Leicester I'll go to work in Gary Linekers underkekkers. That link has however reminded me of a player we were linked with who I think would be a tasty option. Islam Slimani.

Is it realistic to go for Marc Bartra as back up to Toby?

He is currently 5th choice at Barvas

Sell Fazio and bring in Bartra and that's a solid back 8

Just because my buddy hasn't heard we are trying to bring a DM in early doesn't mean we aren't, it just means he just hasn't heard that we are

How realistic it is that he would choose Spurs I don't know. From googling news it seems that he would be in favour of a PL move, but that he would have plenty of PL clubs to choose from should he decide to transfer.

Leicester got 11 draws so far. We've turned those ideal loses into draws. We just need to go one step more next season
the main difference is though virtually all of those draws we should have won
home stoke 2 up
home to everton, chelscum, liverpool we dominated and should have won, scum 2-1 against ten men
away at everton should have won
i cant think of one draw we have had that was lucky
