It won't happen but even if we did get both Batshuayi and Lacazette we would be able to fit them. Firstly Lacazette in my view would be better suited to wide forward than Kane's role, secondly with the FA, League and CL we cannot have Kane playing 70 games or whatever. We could easily make room for another striker like Bats and a wide forward especially if we sell in the summer.

We have been remarkably lucky with Kane not getting suspended, injured or suffering a major loss of form.

WTF

No team in the world who plays a one striker system can keep 3 first team strikers happy. Pointless even discussing it.

@Karl Emil You gave me a disagree, but you've gotten your facts wrong.

Lacazette has scored against 4th place Nice, 5th place St. Etienne (hattrick), 7th place Rennes, etc.

So again you're basically saying he didn't score against PSG (or Monaco) as the other big club is Lyon whom he plays for.
I'm not just talking goals and I'm not just talking this season

I'm gonna say the unthinkable and what if Batshuayi turns out to be better than Kane? Sure, I don't think that'd happen anytime soon but humour me, what if he comes in and scores more and plays better, we don't know.

I think Poch is the type of manager that won't pick players on rep. He'll pick what's best for the game and who's playing best so the more quality players we get the better. I mean last seasons starting CM's are barely making the team nowadays. Wasn't there a time when people were crying out for a team built around Bentaleb?

TLDR: I don't think it's a mistake to recruit more talent, and that's what Batshuayi is, a talent. It's in a position where we won't be overloaded so yeah, I'm all for it.

That's not luck really, that's a testament to good management of him and the player himself. You rick burnout of Kane if he's overplayed which is why we need cover but we don't need 2 players, just 1.

But we might not, some players can operate effectively as wide forwards, why would we only ever play just one. Poch used JR at Saints in that role and he is a striker.

We went mad for Berahino during the summer, I doubt it was just for a guy who can cover Kane. If we do buy Batshuayi, we may still get 3 in the form of Harrison if he continues developing.

Yeah but why would be buy two strikers purely to play as wide forwards, it doesn't make any sense? It's not as if we are short in depth in that area either.

Buying a striker who can play that role makes more sense because he can play with it instead of Kane in both positions.

Kane, Batshuayi and Harrison should see us set at striker. Add in the emergency ability to cover in Son/N'Jie and we are more than set.

ST: Kane, Batshuayi, Harrison
LWF: Son, N'Jie, Pritchard (?)
CAM: Eriksen, Alli
RWF: Lamela, Son

I could see Chadli being sold. I'm most curious as to what might happen with Pritchard/Onomah. I would imagine one would be loaned and the other would stay. If it's an either/or scenario, I would hope we would have discussions with Bournemouth for a deal. They are the right level for either player and the way they work as a team as well as promote an attacking style would fit, to an extent, what Poch will want from them.

Kane Batshuayi and Harrison is simply not enough for CL campaign. Need a better backup than Harrison

Depending on how highly Poch rates Harrison I could see us back in for Fulham's Dembele this summer. The recruitment staff obviously sees something in him and for a tribunal fee Levy will be all over it.

Poch has always said if he's got two quality strikers he would find a way to play both.

Yes exactly, I don't know why everyone thinks a striker in Pochs system is just one position. I know I am repeating myself but hes done it before at Saints, we buy a striker there is just as much chance he is competing with Alli and Lamela as Kane for a spot.

From the same source that I have quoted previously in this thread, I've been told that a deal for Batshuayi is agreed at 40m euros. I can verify with mods if required.

I don't have a 'source' , but I do have a friend who has been pretty damn accurate with what he's told me in the past. Anyway, he hinted to me on March 30th, that he'd heard something about Batshuayi. Basically told me he might put a wager on Batshuayi & Tieleman (who I've never heard of)..

Could just be wishful thinking on his behalf. I'm only mentioning it because of your post (y)

Whats he going to do, drop Eriksen or Alli just because we have another striker all of a sudden?

Batshuayi gives us another option so he can play with or instead of Kane, we are not suddenly going to play with 2, strikers not to mention Chadli, Son, Pritchard and Njie will need game time as well.

I really thought it'd be Batshuayi for awhile now. Especially after the comment/emoji by JJ on Twitter. Poch has to love the idea of working with him given he has a ton of ability and he looks like a player who could develop into an even better player.

Umtiti really makes no sense to me. He's got the ability to play both LB and LCB, but we've got more than adequate cover in both of those positions.

Can't pretend to be an authority on the lad. I've seen a little bit of him, and he seems strong, athletic, tenacious & also has a nice turn of pace. Maybe Poch sees him as another Dier in the making? Him & Dier being a L/R deep lying pairing, thus freeing up the chance to push Dembele further forward?
