My take on the transfer window:

Hold onto Kane and improve the first XI via a summer clear out.

This window isn’t the time to be focusing on squad depth. With limited funds, the signings we make need to improve our first XI so we can compete in the Premier League once again. We have the foundations to compete in this squad, we’re just a few key signings away to being back to our best.

Given our participation in the anomaly of a competition that is the Europa Conference League, our remaining squad players and emerging academy players will likely be of enough quality to help us progress through most of the tournament. This should allow our first XI to primarily focus on domestic competition and persevere their fitness.

We need to invest in a first choice CB, RB, and RW. If a good deal for a long standing CM target like Sabitzer can be made (who would start for us), I think that should be a priority as well. However, I do think we have a solid crop of midfielders with Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Lo Celso, and now Skipp (who I think is going to be excellent for us).

For ST, I think we need to get cute again with a temporary option this season. Another cheap loan (i.e. Vincius) should do.

RB — fund with Aurier & Foyth sales
CB — fund with Sanchez & Dier & CCV sale
RW — fund with Lucas & Lamela & (maybe Dele)
CM — fund with Winks & Sissoko sale
ST — cheap loan / sign player on expiring contract

RB — I think the clear target for us should be Aarons. Available (and would likely be convinced to play here), young (and experienced), HG, can play in a back 4 and as a wingback. We’re surely admires of his after he’s torn us to shreds each time we’ve played him. He has a bright future IMO.
CB — Key priority. A defender that can transform our defense and instill confidence. Ideally one of the elite and likely available options this summer: Skriniar, Romero, Torres, Varane, Diego Carlos, Tapsoba. My second (and more realistic) tier of options would include Ginter and White. Not convinced thaf Andersen or Milenkovic are ready to take us to the next level at this point in their careers
RW — Dybala is the clear best RW on the market this summer if he doesn’t renew with Juve. If Paratici can somehow actually get him signed (per the reports lmao) we’d have the best forward line in football with Son and Dybala running off Kane. But in the almost certain event he’s not interested in coming to Spurs, I think the best attainable option for us would be Leon Bailey. I think Berardi is another player we’ll be monitoring as an option. Not buying into the Thuram links and I don’t think he’s a great choice IMO.
CM — Sabitzer. Pellegrini is another great midfielder likely to be sold at a discount by Roma this summer. If there’s not a deal to be made on an elite player, I think we focus on our current CM options instead of potentially adding deadwood here.
ST - Loan in a rando who can press & has decent hold up play.

Edit: Looks like Lyall and I are on the same page

I agree with all of that. What we need the most is players with pace and creativity. (and defenders that don't produce a mistake every other game)

We need to take full control of our predicament until now as this being written we look totally rudderless, no manager and an utter cluster cocktail of embarrassments with attempted recruitments and increasing rumours surrounding Kane with potential cash plus player swaps... What a damn mess.

I hope we don't play the victim because imo all of this madness stems from the chairman and his poor leadership with team affairs. If we need to sell Kane to generate funds to rebuild the overall squad we should do so promptly with ultra clear conditions that if not met within a time frame suitable for us all deals are off.. No messing about xyz we bounce.

Rob Guest reports that Dumfries has a 13m release clause... for the best RB in the world? Yes please

Pretty sure he linked up well with Bergwijn when they were both at PSV as well. Unfortunately I think he will have better offers at that price.

I agree. I just feel like it's my obligation to post about Dumfries since I've been doing it nonstop for the last months hahaha. He's so suited to the PL it's not even funny.

Just my opinion ? with a little tongue in cheek hahaha. I watch a lot of Eredivisie and Netherlands when they're on. Just think with his size and pace he is built for the Premier League. He doesn't play there often but he can cover at CB too. If we were to play 3/5 in the back I'd be pretty content at our rwb/lwb with Dumfries/Doherty (second chance) and Reguilion/Sess.

Like someone else said he'll probably get a better offer somewhere else.

Blast from the past and too old now, but Wilmer Barrios putting in a heckuva shift against Brazil tonight. The type of destroyer DM you might be able to play GLC and Tanguy in front of.

Sanchez having a decent game too.
