If we get CL football then we should do our business early (manager and new players) and try to reason with Modric to stay.

If he still wants out then start an auction at £40million and try to get the best price possible.

We've had a 'bonus' season out of him and if we are back in the CL we should be able to attract a decent replacement so good luck to him.

We still have Parker and Sandro, Livermore has broken through, and hopefully Huddlestone will make a return so we won't exactly be pushed for decent CMs, and we also have VdV for an attacking central role if we go 4-2-3-1.

I'd rather use the majority of the money to kick-start start the stadium re-development as we need to make the most of the money making CL season we (hopefully) get next season.

Not for sale at any price, same as VDV and Bale. They're our most important players and we can't afford to sell them.

Man City are a club we should be aiming to battle with for the title soon. Why strengthen them?

At what point does money become irrelevant? I would have thought to someone earnig 40,000 per week they have more money than they could possibly spend. In which case, what use is any extra?

If Modric can earn 100k reported per week at spurs, how much would and extra 50,000 per week improve his life? What would he be able to do, on 150k per week that he can't on 100k per week?

To me - that's why I don't believe it's all about money. Unles of course your an egotistical prick who sits wanking over ya bank statement.

If I'm honest, I think part of Modric buckling down and getting on with his football this season, and, let's give him credit, he has seriously assisted our progress this season too, was Levy telling him he wants one more season of quality contribution and then he can go for a pre-agreed fee - agreed with his agent and himself.

However, knowing this, Mr Levy will have been planning from day one for his replacement.
Other clubs will know of this arrangement, without doubt, if Modric's agent has anything about him and the suitors are just beginning to place themselves into position.

Meanwhile Levy and Redknapp are keeping the replacement sweet with some bigging up throughout the season...

Let him go to Citeh. Adam Johnson, Adebayor and £30 million will do nicely for a player who doesn't really want to play at WHL any more.

Personally I wouldn't be happy with that deal. Johnson won't get in the team ahead of Bale or Lennon will he? Has Adebayor done enough to earn a contract? I'd much rather sell Modric for £50M+ and choose our own targets than rely on their cast-offs. But as I said earlier I'm not even sure he'll be off - the fact he's even considering a new contract must mean that he's not sure where his future lies.

I dont see a problem with us agreeing a deal for Adebayor anyway, without involving Modric. We just can't afford his wages which makes it worthless.

Selling him to City would be fucking stupid. If he's gonna go, he should be heading abroad.

If he wants to leave come the summer then City have just made it very difficult to get him for less than £50million

If it wasn't hard enough already.

Can't see him leaving though in all honesty if we finish top 4

Prefer to sell him abroad if he is insistent on leaving. But City will insure top dollar and should leave money for a replacement , perphaps Erikson , Hazard, vertongen, daimio etc etc, maybe even squeeze adebayor in too. If he aint happy and we can get an ample replacement, with perphaps a few more goals in their locker , then methinks it will happen. Once we dont do an arsenal and sell fabregas and bring in 3rd rate replacements

It might of been suggested already but can't b arsed to read whole thread. Modric for Torres! With harry in charge (maybe it me but I think Englands passed, thought he was going but I don't now). Torres with Harry's arm on his shoulder is Torres of early Liverpool form!

Don't see it since we'd still have to pay his 250k a week wages. I think even if redknapp massages his ego to epic proportions he won't be the player he was. In addition, Chelsea would be getting the better player, a player they desperately need so they'd have to add a huge amount of money.

We're fourth, fighting for third and in an FA Cup Semi-final. Modric is a mainstay in our team and is being praised by Mancini.
Yet I read comments like his heads not in it, he doesn't really want to play at the Lane anymore, and he'll down tools if he doesn't get his way.
Thankfully 'arry is in charge and has a little more faith in the guy.

£30mill + Nasri would be very tempting or 50million and in exchange you get Hazard and Ben Arfa with some change very tempting :)

You think we'll get rid of Modric for a striker who earns £130k a week more than him?

In the first season the wage increase would be £6.3m.

Acknowledging Torres is still a good player is one thing but thinking he's a potential target for us is beyond deluded.

I think we will need a central playmaker to replace him. Christian Erikksen would be my choice if we could get him.

Oh for a bank statement worth wanking over .

Season ticket renewal time soon . You can tell it's coming as the volume of fabricated stories linking us to big time players increases .
