I liked Siggy and feel we didn't get his best. But over the last 2 seasons (bar Bale and Hugo) who have we seen play out of their skin week in week out? Round pegs into square holes springs to mind

I think he needs to play as the attacking midfielder in a formation but I don't think he had the vision or dribbling ability to really make it his own for us. However, he worked hard for us, scored some important goals for us and has a cracking shot on him.

Glad to see he is playing well and all the best to him.

We still have players that will be better when they leave us and go some where and have their strengths played to. Soldado and possibly Dembele.

Siggy thrives in a hardworking team that use him a creative centrepiece.

Shoving him out wide and expecting him to support a player in that same role is never going to work because he's not dynamic enough.

I have always been a fan of Siggy - he has excelled in that position at every club he has been at... so of course we predominately played him left wing.

I thought he started off well for us playing in his preferred role, but the fans didn't give him a chance because he wasn't VDV.

The abuse Siggy used to get was a disgrace.

We (as a whole set of fans) really do deserve what we are getting right now.

I remember him getting abuse on here (like everyone does) because he was shunted out left all the time. Why our managers played him there i'll never know, but they hung him out to dry!

Ramsey got it at Arsenal, massively. Don't understand why players that aren't suited to the wing are shunted out there....

“He’s come to familiar surroundings and is very central to the way we play,” Curtis told talkSPORT. “We play him in that no.10 shirt and I’m not sure Spurs used him to the best of his strengths, but he’s been terrific for us, not only for his ability on the ball, but he works extremely hard as well.

This is all news to me, player struggles at Spurs, leaves then lights up another club, shock and horror.

I think he was a victim of our terrible scouting and recuritment policy in recent times where we have been buying players based on their indivdual statistics and perceived values/resale values instead of focusing on how they will fit into our squad and complement one another to build the strongest possible unit

As a result we ended up with too many similar components, not enough players to do what needed to be done to play to the strengths of others and get the best out of one another

As a result we ended up with so many square pegs in round holes (sig being one) and none of the players really got to shine (until Sherwood set the team up to play to the strengths of Ade and Erkisen.....at the expense of the middle and defensive areas)

The squad was and still is so very unbalanced due to this pathetic transfer activity and as a result so many of our players were really able to perform to their capabilities

Right up our street then.

He has been a massive success at Swansea and at Reading, so I think he has found his true level as a player, same as Dempsey did at Fulham and Felliani did at Everton along with that other bloke we bought off Everton

I just don't think Sig is a big club player and even though we are in a slump we are a big club

Well. Thats what you get when you recruit someone simply because they played a blinder against you the season before, then change his position

This is the predicament THFC find themselves in .

We get shot of reliable performers like Siggy and Clint and replace them .... with potential because we can't afford the finished article like Chelsea and Man City .

It has got to the stage with me where I'd prefer Spurs to concentrate on the FA Cup and league wise just aim to be an Everton with honest players on the pitch and on the bench (eg Darren Gibson) .

Don't worry, we have Paul Mitchell joining any day now and he'll sort it out
