IF we're interested in Vorm I would envisage it's not as a replacement for Lloris as he's nowhere near Hugo's level (admittedly few are) and didn't have a great season in 13/14 (think he missed a lot of games through injury?).

As for Davies, I'd have no qualms over a deal of Sig plus £4m for him. Think that gets both parties to a reasonable valuation of about £10-11m for a promising 21 year old full-back.

I think if a swap is actually on the cards we wouldn't have to pay even that much tbh... I reckon it would be fairly close to a straight swap as our board "supposedly"
Values gylfi Thor at around 10m

I would argue sig is worth more than Davies. I would say sig 8m Davies 6/7m

Generally attackers are worth more. Even if they both give the same kind of output to a game.
So perhaps this is right on some levels.
But as I think I saw someone mention in a previous post.
Good fullbacks LBs even more so than RBs are seemingly quite rare.. So their value is going to be higher than your average defender of the same caliber.
So it could be argued they are about on equal terms in aims of price.
And with both being homegrown
Adds up a bit more. So both being valued at 8-10 m mark seems about right

Whilst you may have a point I think we need a decent LB more than we need to keep Sigurdsson so I'd be happy to swap the two as Rose is clearly not up to the job of being our first choice LB. We have more than adequate cover in this area should Sigurdsson leave we don't have a decent first choice LB at the moment so doing this deal quickly should be our main priority before others come in and snap him up.

Swansea probably need sig more than they need Davies as well considering they have another similar standard left back in Taylor . I'm not against the deal but no way should we be giving them money + sig if anything they should give us Davies + cash

Not sure why Swansea need Siggy?

Jonathan de Guzmán plays in Siggy's best position doesn't he and thought they'd extended his loan?

Also Michu if he stayts can play there - usually he plays centre forward but I'd have Bony up there (or preferably at Spurs... :sneaky:) and they've also just signed that other forward.

I think you're all forgetting/failing to realise that Swansea will look at how much Luke Shaw has just gone for and say they value Davies at around half of that. We would do the same in their position and the fact there are very few viable alternatives strengthens their argument.

Also, Sig is surplus to requirements at WHL, whereas Davies has made the LB spot his own at Swansea even now Taylor's recovered. If we managed a straight swap it would be a steal!

Too good to be our #2...not good enough to be our #1.

We are never going to be able to replace loris like for like but I agree we could probably do better. Begovic would be my choice but unlikely considering what happened before

We'll need to keep our 'home grown' quota up. We may well lose Dawson and some others and to me it seems sensible to top up the quota with players who are relatively cheap due to ready availability. Unfortunately, LB is not one of those positions, and a home grown player such as Davies will command a premium price. Although Siggurdson is just as valuable to a team, he won't command a premium price since far more similar players will be available.

I'd take Davies in a heartbeat, but i don't really think their keeper would come if we intend to keep Lloris.

But to Swansea they would see it as replacing a HG talent with another HG talent.
They also have a very capable LB in Taylor whom they would see as being good enough for them to continue with their ambitions whilst making a tidy profit on a player who they may not necessarily need...
At least in siggy they get a player who can score goals. And used in his best position which is the most forward of a mid 3. He will be a very good player for them.
I honestly feel it's win win.

My point was really saying that a non HG left back makes better financial sense than paying a premium for Davies. We can top up our HG quota in cheaper/better value for money areas.
