This is a quote I found on social media:

José Mourinho on #thfc tonight: "Nothing new learnt. The fact that the Europa League group phase does not motivate some of the players. That some players are fundamental for us and I always need on the pitch in any circumstance." [Daily Express]

PEH and Ndombele as fundamental clearly.

I just don't get the optimism from some posters who think that tonight's woeful performance was a one-off and that we've been "magnificent" in the league.

On the contrary, I think we have been extremely poor for the best part of a month and are very lucky to be top of the league

We were crap/lucky against Burnley
We looked awful and disjointed against WBA for 85 mins
We could so easily have lost the game to Citeh
We were well below par against Chelsea

It'll take one bad performance and loss for this place to implode!

There was at least one positive. We needed at last a draw to progress and we drew. Everything else in your list I can agree with but I give Japhet some credit for the dynamic run forward which got us deep into their half and ended up in us getting a penalty equaliser just before half time.
I thought Japhet had a good game generally.

I thought we played very, very well vs. Burnley and City, and as expected vs. The best defense in the the league (Chelsea)

This is Europa league in real life. It’s how it goes. Fans with higher expectations have played too many EL matches on football manager and genuinely believe it’s a 6-0 kind of competition.

We weren’t lucky against Burnley at all. Aside from the headed clearance from Kane which, incidentally, was his job for that set piece (you know, defending;)), we were in fairly comfortable control, they never really had a sniff and we did.
WBA I can agree with you on, but we were magnificent against City and tactically astute against Chelsea. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but playing well nonetheless. We’ve blown hot and cold in the EL, but we haven’t been poor for the last month, say 70/30?

This game could very well be the motivator needed before the NLD. I fully expect he’s thrown a raft of fucks into the squad and has said, in no uncertain terms, that they’d better up it another level or they’ll get crucified playing like that.
Gooners just came off a 4-1 win, so we’ll need to be up for this because they surely will be.

Surprised Vinicius didn't manage to play today. It just got me more worried that Mourinho is saving him for Sunday, and I'm not sure if that is a good thing as that means Kane could be fighting to be fit?

Jose mind games

Really doesn't seem like he has it in him anymore. He's only what 31? He shouldn't be that unfit when playing at a club with such facilities as we have. He seems miles off.
Tbf I think he needs to play on the left and get his mojo back

Why the fuck are you bothering to go to the arsenal game then if you don’t like the football?

You could of let one of us go who actually wants to get behind the team.

I support Spurs. Managers come and go and this one is well known for how he operates and how long he lasts. Hate the football we play but have watched us with the likes of Ramos, AVB and other dire times.

Just watched that last goal again and we had eight defenders in the picture and still gave them room for a shot. Also our new super duper right back makes Aurier look like Cafu. He kept falling over his own feet.

From the first 10 mins it seemed like all the players were interested in was not getting injured, especially the ones closer to the first team.

People expecting us to go away and just stream roll these teams have their heads in the clouds.

Football isn’t just about ability, the mentality of bigger clubs in this competition is always like this. It’s played in 2nd gear.

We had 1 & 1/2eyes on Arsenal, we wouldn’t have been preparing for tonight’s game really. It’s all about Sunday

Yet we still qualified

I’m just happy there were no injuries

And who cares about coming 2nd and playing a 3rd placed CL team. We should be a 1st or 2nd placed CL team. We are the best team in this competition whoever comes down (bar maybe Leipzig or PSG)

Most of the players didn't seem up for it (Jose said as much afterwards). So this doesn't give me cause for alarm against Arsenal. What does worry me though is they won 4-1 and got a huge morale boost from the return of fans.

Worrying that Doherty hasn't started well, and another poor performance by Sanchez. I think he'll need to leave to try to get his confidence back and turn his career around. Shame as he was really good in his first season, in my opinion

Was there something different about the pitch? I saw our players slipping everywhere
Think ndombadboi should be playing at 8 rather than 10.. gio further up.. he's press resistant and better in the tackle..

Yeah, it was a hybrid grass pitch and it had just snowed. Don't believe they have much in the way of undersoil heating either.

Poor display but we made so many changes from the Chelsea match. Still some that need weeding out.

Reading all this negative bollocks is just embarrassing. Unbeaten in 10 is it, top of the league, comfortably through to the knockout stages of the EL and STILL the words DISGRACE, EMBARASSING, BELOW PAR, BORING etc, get thrown around. Go and support... who? we're top of the LEAGUE

Better be up for it next game or we'll get a Champions League drop out and there are some big teams entering the competition that way.
