I can't believe people are laying into him for not touching the ball for ten minutes. The ball was in and around our 18 yard box for those ten minutes, it was anything but his fault.

And, even more hilariously, people are laying into him for a 'mis-placed pass'?! How about laying into Lennon for having the slowest football brain this side of Titus Bramble, and not reading the extremely obvious run which Taarabt was asking him to make? Lennon refused to go down the outside all night. The ball from Taarabt was exactly the right thing to do at that moment, and it's Lennon who should being getting criticised for not reading what Taarabt was quite obviously begging him to do.
I'm with you Bobbins your analysis is spot on.
Lennon is too predictable, and continually fails in the most important task for a winger, delivery. Hopefully Taarabt will get some more game time before the season fizzles out.

I think we're lucky to have Adel; he is a talented player. His skills are without question and he now needs to be given more first team squad experience to develop his ability.

He seems to be learning not to be so selfish with the ball but I can understand him wanting to hold on to it, because he can beat most of the opposition and wants to prove it.

That's the pure enthusiasm of an 18 year old.

Under Ramos and Poyet, he is destined to become a very special, world class footballer.

Last night, for the short time he was on the pitch, he outshone most of the regulars.

i know people argue the overrated show-pony angle, but can anyone think of any players with as much natural dribbling ability as tbaaart that didn't turn into great footballers?
the only players i can think of that showed similar skills and got the same sort of criticism as ttaraba are ronaldo and joe cole. and once their brains caught up with their ability they didn't turn out too badly.

and i like his hair. it looks like it was painted on.
it's lego-fabulous.

Yes, he was the Invisible Man for about ten minutes. What he finally did was pretty good, and he seems to have learnt the meaning of the word 'pass'.

I think maybe alot of our comments about him ball hogging in the stiff's is simply down to the fact he maybe doesn't trust any of thier ability to use the ball if he gave it to them. Maybe he's more affective and more pass orientated amongst grander company??!

I have issues regarding Lennon when he's not at the races so pehaps we should use Taarabt as a replacement off the bench in what remains of our fizzling season.

steed would be able to influence a game more from cm.

adel is a special talent, ramos has hopefully got him to realise that players in the same colour shirt are actually there to help you. but the only way he'll learn is to give him first team experience.

NO NO NO ....TT in the Middle with Huddlestone. Although i expect Zokora with Huddlestone. Zokora's overperfomance in the Chelsea game has probably earnt him 10 more free passes to the Spurs CM rollercoaster

I'm happy for him to show boat. I would love this guy to amture into either a Joe Cole/Ronaldo type player.

He certainly has the potential for it.

Now we have European football secure, I do hope he gets more games in the league to get that maturity.

Taraabt looks like a real talent when he come on. He looked the most dangeruos attacking option and posed the most threat to PSV with his mazy runs and directness. If the kid can add an end product into his game and slap on a few pounds we could be looking at the next Ronaldo. Laugh all you like but I remember C.Ronaldo starting his Man Utd career VERY much the same way with 10 zillion step overs and poor end product both shooting and crossing. Look at him now.......

I also agree. Lennon frustrates me sooooo much. He has no idea how to play to his strengths. He has great pace and can dribble well, I wouldn't say he has all that much flair but his ball control is very good, as was demonstrated on that recent Nike ad. His delivery is not so good(so why the hell does he take corners?).

The ball Taarabt played was exactly right. Lennon should be looking for those runs because no left back in the world is going to beat him to that ball. That way he doesn't have to worry about taking it round the left back, and he's free to charge into the box.

Instead he always seems to stand still and want the ball played into feet. :bang:

The interesting thing for me was that Ramos threw Taarabt on in the hole, as an ACM - which is probably his natural position.

The trouble is there's no way we can play with an ACM behind Berba and Keane unless we play 3-4-1-2, which was how we finished last night. (Or to be a pedant, 3-1-3-1-2, 'cos Zokora was playing his favourite ACB - copyright Stoof - role.)

I personally would like to see Taarabt given some chances as a flank player - both RM and LM - in our remaining league games. Tell him to play for the team and pass the ball most of the time, but if he has a one-on-one situation take on the man. Taarabt does genuinely have the ability to skin a player, and that's pretty rare in our squad.

One good thing about being unable to be relegated or have to finish in the top 6 is that Adolf Treebeard should get several run-outs between now and the end of the campaign. He'll probably create 3/4 goals and cost us double that but he certainly needs games at Premier League level if he is ever to fulfill his reputation.

Was this sarcastic?

PS - I was pretty excited by how much Adel has matured since his last performance - would love to see him play a full match.

How's he going to be given a chance when all Robbo is going to do is pump up long balls?

He looked alright when he got the ball, but didnt get enough of it. Was not helped in the slightest by the fact that we were not prepared to even consider occupying the wings. Our attacking players were literally holding hands for the last half hour.

He wont be able to do his best work if we continue to play so crowded. Actually, no one will be able to do their best work, and we will just pump it long.

I really don't get this constant negativity toward Taraabt. Since when have Spurs fans cared about risking conceding goals to score them?

To dare is to do, no?

Christ. Time to put those rose-tinted glasses away when you're glancing mistily eyed back at Ginola then, methinks.

Thought the boy did well and it was great seeing someone actually not look petrified with the ball. By no means the finished article, but I can't see how he could have done any more.

Bloody heck Bill, had a pint or twelve?

he was a spark amongst a quite frankly dull, lifeless MF today

Sorry chaps. Not sure if I made myself clear. I stand by my 'set up 4, cost us double' comment, but I never said that was a bad thing.

It will affect nothing more than the amount of prize money for our league position, which is peanuts compared to the opportunity to blood an exciting youngster.

If we were competing for a top 5/6 position then he'd be left in the stiffs. And his development would be stifled. I'd rather he fucked up if that meant he got the chance to actually play.

You learn from your mistakes and I'm delighted that he has the chance to make such mistakes.

Or at least that he should get the chance to make such mistakes. I'd rather he played than Keane or Steve Mallbrank for many games as we know what we get with these guys, even if they are better players right now.

Better?

Was this sarcastic?

No. Even if we lose all our remaining premier league games 48-0 we won't go down. Scientific fact.

Lennon has looked tired recently, Two games a week is just beyond his young body at the moment. Taarabt may not be the answer down the wing as he doesn't seem to have tha pace but should be really effective through the middle with his close dribbling and shimmying. When he does that and scores a couple of goals, people will start comparing him to Gazza.
