The club have put out a statement following an antisemitic incident on TalkSport yesterday. A caller phoned in and said Levy wouldn't spend any money on players because he's a Jew. The presenters looked shocked, but didn't challenge him and instead moved the conversation on.

Talksport - Club statement | Tottenham Hotspur

"The Club notes TalkSport’s apology following an antisemitic incident on their The Sports Bar programme on Tuesday 3 August.

We were appalled that neither presenter addressed the comment, failing to call out the antisemitic trope. We are under no doubt that if an equivalent comment had been made regarding an individual’s race or other protected characteristic, the response would have been immediate and far-reaching.

It cannot be acceptable that antisemitism does not receive the same level of condemnation as other forms of discrimination and efforts to tackle it should be no less rigorous."

Absolutely beyond ridiculous that a) the caller wasn't challenged and b) the dump button wasn't used to drown him out.

The producer who let it through is in serious trouble.

There's some talk (I don't know how true) that it didn't make it to the actual radio show because of the delay, but the YouTube stream of the show was live so it got through there. Even if so it leaves the argument about not challenging this racism at all.

And literally just now (it was working two minutes ago), the most widely circulating video of the incident has been deleted "in response to a report by the copywrite owner" ? Trying to hide this is NOT the right response TalkSport and indeed is exactly what's caused this problem for you in the first place...

Who were the presenters?

* Please be Cundy, please be Cundy, please be Cundy*

Perry Groves and Jordan Jarrett Bryan. Not sure who the later is.

It's available on youtube. Pretty vile really. Groves shook his head, the other guy didn't react.

Don't know why people still gave that platform the time of day. Seems only Simon Jordan has any respectable standing from it.

Nope, Perry Groves and Jordan Jerrett Bryan

This guy - he spends so much time talking about taking the knee and BLM but when there is something else - he disregards it as if Jews dont exist. If the word 'black' was said, I am 100% certain he would have gone off on one and rightly so...

I dont blame the presenters for the individual saying it but do blame them for not actually highlighting what was said rather than brushing it under the carpet.

What was said?
I don't really want to go searching for it.

Say what you want about Durham but he wouldn't have let that slide.

Be careful when you say that because it needs to be put into context, I saw the video and if anything it looks like he's in shock that it was said, not that he accepted it and tried to move on.

I know it bears no real importance in the grand scheme of things, but which club did the caller support?

I saw it on youtube. Perry I know was more in disbelief, I just think JJB could have then gone back - he still had a bit of time in the show to go back to it. I think when it comes to racism, you got to face up to it and call it out... as a presenter I do think you need to front stuff like that up.

I am pretty certain Goldstein would have mentioned something on that - then again as much of a knob he is, he is a decent presenter. I digress.

To me it looks like he was surprised that the caller said what he did but then weighed up the comment in his head and decided that it was ok to continue with the discussion. Do you think he would have had a second thought if the comment was directed an any other minority? Me neither.

Unfortunately anti-Semitic beliefs are fairly common amongst other ethnic minorities.

It did not go out on air - it was dumped there.

Unfortunately for talksport - they were live on YouTube at the time, and there is no delay.
