Got to be our strongest side - we can very feasibly defend our title this season.

Mine would be:

Gomes
Corluka King Woodgate Bale
Bentley Jenas Hudd Lennon
Modric
Pav/Bent

Dan, HR has stated that King will not be risked in the cup games as he see's the PL as number 1 for him.

----Gomes-----

Hutton----Dawson---Corluka---- BAE (If suspended Bale)

Lennon---- Zokora--- Jenas---- Bale/O'Hara

------Pav------ Campbell-------------------

Liverpool will most likely play a number of squad players, though Torres might get an hour, so we need a strong core. This team allows a rest for Hudd, Woodgate, Modric, Bentley and Bent. A lot of people are calling for Bostock to start, I think he will be on the bench alongside another one or two youngsters and maybe some of the forgotten men (Ghaly, Rocha, Boateng)

More interestingly actually, any thoughts on the Liverpool team? Looks like Torres will possibly start.

I was thinking that about Torres which is bit of a shame! Id be surprised if players like Gerrard, Alonso, Renia, Mascarano, Keane, Kuyt, etc will play Benitez normally rests players for Carling cup. I think Harry might rotate as well most of our 1st choice players have played 7 games in last four weeks or so. Id go with

Sanchez

Hutton Dawson, Corluka, Gunter

Ghaly, Zokora, Ohara, Bale (if fit guessing he is injured as not sure why he was missing today)

Lennon

Pavlyuchenko

Subs

Gomes
Rocha
Gilberto
Jenas
Campbell
Bostock
KPB

That annoys me. Whether we finish 12th or 8th (the range where we will) makes no difference at all. This cup, like last season, is really our only route to Europe and should be THE priority for us.

I can't see Redknapp starting with youngsters as he would like to keep his unbeaten run longer. While I don't know yet our available players, I would go with this :

Jansson
Gunter - Corluka - Woodgate - Daniel
Huddlestone
Bentley - Jenas - Modric - Bale
Pavyluchenko
bench: Sanchez, Dawson, Hutton, Zokora, O'Hara/Bostock, Lennon, Bent

* We need to give Jansson or Sanchez a game which it's important for their confidence to see them ready for any shock call.

* Gunter need a game, and it's the right time to give Daniel a chance to push Ekotto as Bale backup.

* Pavyluchenko isntead of Bent, in order to see Bent again for net League game, we shouldn't write the league off.

Gomez
Gunter Woodgate Corluka BAE (Gilberto if suspended)
Lennon Jenas O'hara Bale
Campbell Pavlyuchenko

Sanchez, Hutton, Dawson, Bostock, Ghaly, Taraabt, Bent

Pairing Corluka and Woodgate together gives them more playing time together, important for when King is unavailable. Dependant upon the team Liverpool put out i would hope that this should give us a good chance of a win whilst allowing us to give some fringe, and young players a chance and rest key first teamers

When I first read this I started to think about resting Bent, Pav needs a game and to be told he's not been forgotten. Not risking Modric as he is key to our side and then......

I thought back to February, Berbatov scoring the penalty, Woodgate's header taking 10 years to roll into the back of the net, extra time being so tense and taking another 10 years, Teemu taking the piss out of Dogface pointing to the scoreboard, Robbie Keane et al celebrating, Ledley lifting the cup. The elation, a trophy, the history of the day. You don't get that with a 5th placed league finish and no wembley appearance.

Strongest side, pick the form players.

Gomes
Corluka Woodgate King Bale
Bentley Jenas Huddlestone Lennon
...........Modric
...............Bent

Oh yes lets rest the poor little things all that running around twice a week for 90minutes(not a solid 90mins either) they must be worn out.

Fuck all that shit. CC another avenue into Europe and one we should still try to atleast win again.

Liverpool's side in the last round of the CC against Crewe was Cavalieri, Insua, Agger, Hyppia, Degen, Al Zhar, Levia, Plessis, Pennant, Babbell ,Ngog with reserves Alonso Carragher( we need his goals)Dosseana,Gulasci,Skrtel ,Torres.
Given that they are likely to rest first team regulars who probably also would like the opportunity not to be burgled, I think we should play
Gomes
Hutton Woodgate, Corluka,Bale,
Bentley, Hudd, Zokora,Lennon
Bent & Pavs
This is our best chance for Europe but I'd like to see us try 4 4 2 and keep Modric fresh for the league.

Yeah, it's tricky. We'll probably go 4-5-1, so we can only pick one of them; Bent's on fine form at the moment but Carragher is consistent in this fixture. I'm glad I'm not making the decisions.

I feel with Carragher's form for Spurs we probably don't need to play Pav or Bent. A solid six man midfield should be able to give Carra the chances he needs.

A mix between fringe players and first team squad, Liverpool will be weakened definitely so we can be very confident of getting another win!
