Do we go for the Hudd's passing?

In that case, in a 4-4-2 (or even a 4-5-1) we ignore the fact that his tackling's only marginally better than Zokora's and that once an opposition player's past him it's Goodnight Vienna.

Alnwick in goal is deffo a possibility i think.

Theres got to be a chance this could be a possibility, but this isnt the season to be blooding a young inexperienced goalie - unfortunately we have to stick with GOMES - for now at least. :duh:

If we play him as the deepest midfielder maybe. But if we play him as the more advanced of the two midfielders he would have a bit more freedom to control the game with offensive passing and hopefully get some opportunities on the edge of the area to test Robbo. If we have Jenas employed in the deeper role that would work fine for me.

I'd definately be tempted to play 2 up top for this game and try and get as many men forward as possible. Give Hudd plenty of good outlets and get right at the defence which probably isn't so confident right now.

I'd go with:

Gomes

Corluka--Woodgate--King--BAE

Bentley--Jenas--Huddlestone--Lennon

Pavlyuchenko--Bent
I'd be very tempted to play Campbell, but I think Pavlyuchenko and Bent need a chance.

Agree with that, I would maybe play Hutton instead of BAE with Corluka at left back. He did well there in the second half against Liverpool and isn't going to be against a top class winger who can beat him the outside. Perhaps MGP will play right side and come inside but then I'd still prefer Corluka.

If Lennon and Bentley can do their best to get back, then I think Jenas will be fine and I don't see that Huddlestone will be too exposed or a liability. I too would like to see Bent and Pav but we may go for five in midfield again with Zokora or O'Hara.

Pavyluchenko Bent

Subs: Alnwick, Assou-Ekotto, Dawson, Zokora, Lennon, O'Hara, Campbell.

We've gotta have 2 solid banks of 4 behind our front 2 if we switch to 4-4-2.

I think that midfield would be solid enough to compete and hopefully outplay Blackburn.

Nothing to choose between O'Hara & Bale. Neither have been 100% solid lately but Bale has more quality/pace going forward so he'd get the nod for me.

Looking at the bench, Lennon can be an impact sub if we're chasing the game, while O'Hara/Zokora can keep things tight at the end if needed.

I think Campbell's current form is better than Pav's, but Pav's cup tied for the midweek Uefa game.

Therefore I'd start Pav on Sunday, but I'd definitely be looking to bring Campbell in at some point!

My team for the Blackburn game would play 4-4-2 and it is;
..............................................GOMES...................................................
.............................WOODGATE...............KING........................................
ZOKORA.......................................................................................BALE.
...........................HUDDLESTONE...........CORLUKA....................................
BENTLEY....................................................................................JENAS
.........................PAVLYUCHENKO.......................CAMPBELL.........................

I would drop Hutton because he is not match fit yet and Zokora is quick enough to get up and down the line and help Bentley find space to get his crosses in.
I would play Pav because he is a decent header of the ball and can hold it.Campbell because he fights for every ball and seems to have a good understanding with Pav.Two strikers offer far more options for our midfielders.
Jenas on the left(a bit like Davids role)getting stuck in and helping Bale.
Corluka in midfield as the ball winner/interceptor and simple passer with Huddlestone as the play maker.
Please don't think that I am moving players about at a whim because all of them have played there before - Zokora has played RB for Spurs,Corluka has played DM/CM for Man City and Jenas has played on the left for England.I really don't see any of them having problems with their positions.

------------Gomes--------------

----Hutton King Woody Corluka

Lennon Jenas Hudd Zokora O'Hara

---------Pav-----Bent----------

I would avoid using Bale, BAE and Bentley due to form.

That team would be great, but im pretty sure that the ref, Blackburn and the FA would all have something to say about it.

Gotta go with Huddlestone-without him and Modric we look completely bereft of creativity-him next to Jenas would be fine

I like Gomes too much, but i don't think it is good for him to play the next game, he needs a rest and fight for his place, for the best for him and the club. Any one of Sanchez, Jansson or even Alnwick although the last one was unwanted by Ramos. The can do decent job upfront our fans.

Sanchez/Jansson
Corluka - Woodgate - King - Bale
Bentley - Jenas - Huddlestone - Lennon
Bent - Pavlychenko

bench: Gomes, Dawson, Hutton, Gunter, O'Hara, Zokora, Campbell
