I think Naughton will never be a first choice Spurs player and will leave before he gets any real opportunity, much like Gunter before him.

There is probably too much standing in his way, especially as Charlie is only 23 and Hutton 25...

He looks a decent prospect, but I don't back him to break through here.

On the Naughton subject. I feel bit sorry for him if rumours in the summer are to believed he was pushed to come to us instead of Everton by Sheff utd and he has barley played a first team game and with no proper reserve team can only have played a handful of games since pre season. Where as if he had gone to Everton he probably would have played quite a bit specially with there first team injury problems. Maybe when Hutton goes which I have a feeling will be in one of the next two transfer windows we will see a bit more of Naughton. Cant believe for a player who i think cost us in region of £5 million will never play a proper game for us.

When i queued up to get my shizz signed by Crouch and Naughton in town, an official came out the shop and said Naughton wont be coming because he has just gone on loan?

:Bump: This was last thursday btw.

Rest Defoe, Dawson, Gomes, Lennon, Assou Ekotto and Huddlestone.

And play a team that includes Dos Santos, Bale, Bentley, Naughton, Keane, Hutton and Jenas.

What exactly are the advantages of playing Hutton? Surely he'll be gone in January anyway .. he's been pretty awful since Harry's been here, so I'd much rather we gave Naughton the chance to get some game time.

Naughton can go on the wing, Hutton can go right back. It's not certain he'll go and he has played alright a couple of times this season. He offers something different to Corluka. And if your wondering where Bentley will go, him and Kyle can switch wings all match. Might work well.

i find that all too easy to believe. seems like we've been doing this for years, spending a lot on players with a very slim chance of establishing themselves in first team. it's a side effect of not bringing many through the academy

Don't care too much about this competition , getting into CL is all that matters this year. But winning at OT would be another boost so I would go with a fairly strong team :

Gomes

Hutton Dawson Bassong BAE

Bentley Jenas Hudd Bale

Keane Defoe

Subs : Alnwick, Naughton, WP, Lennon, Gio, Crouch, Pav

Why not? The chance of Wembley and a bit of silverware?

King injured again. I am all for keep on giving the guy a chance but I feel its time to let him go, give him a job in the coaching/development side of spurs and reward him for long service. Bring in fresh legs that aren't made of class. Poor feller.

A clever typo suggesting you really want him to keep playing?

This is my 1000th post :)
-----------Gomes
Hutton Dawson Bassong BAE
Bentley Huddlestone Jenas Bale
---------Defoe Keane

A relatively strong side which deals with the 'politics' quite well. Keane would surely throw a strop if not picked here not that his form demands it. Huddlestone will start because Harry knows very well that he has become a bit of a talisman as our only 'ever present' in a great start to the season. Corluka could do without facing the United pacey wide men again. Pav has dropped so far down the pecking order that Joe Jordan has his boots on before him and Crouch looked knackered at the finish against Villa. Palicios is another one who looks a bit off the pace and should be saved for Wolves.
