Just realised Kranjcar won't even make the bench in all likelihood if Lennon returns to the squad.

We are looking strong again squad wise, good timing considering what's at stake on the horizon.

Interesting to hear Harry liking the system so hopefully the penny has dropped and realise that for our personnel, 433/4231 represents our best balance of attacking football and defensive discipline whilst also is fluid enough for our creative players to cause havoc.

Team for Swansea, all being well would be;

Friedel

Walker Kaboul Gallas BAE

Sandro Parker Modric

VdV Adebayor Bale

Lennon to come on after 60-70 mins for Rafa and Livermore for Sandro if not fit.

I reckon Brendan Rodgers will be praying that we go 4-4-2, but I don't think Harry will.

Big clue in his post match interview was when he said the system worked well tonight again, he had that look as if he's been converted!

Fuck, how many years has it taken him!

I dont know the answer but I know the problem. Goals. Adebayor was very good again last night, but a lot of his best play came from dropping deep and out wide, carrying the ball, linking midfield and attack. What he didnt offer anywhere near enough off was what Defoe and Saha offered when they came on - a goal threat.

I dont know what Harry does to solve this, because Adebayor is definitely helping teh team general play. But goals win matches.

Thats the first of two must win games this week. We can now rest up until Sunday, maybe getting an extra days complete rest, before hosting Swansea, who will be coming to us without their key CB - our very own Caulker. Hopefully enough of a disruption to unsettle their entire back line.
Sundays score could be anything, and in Siguardson Swansea seem to have a player of genuine quality, complimented with Dyer & Sinclar. But no excuses. They'll be open, they'll atack, and that should play into our hands. Lennon could be a massive factor in this game, and if fit enough for the bench could be our match winner coming on with 30mins to go.

Would be hard to disrupt last nights team too much, but I'd expect Gallas, Kaboul and maybe Sandro to come in if fit, with Lennon on the bench.

Our best team.

Friedel
Walker----Kaboul----Gallas----Ekotto
Lennon----Modric----Parker----Bale
VDV
Adebayor

Certainly this. As I've said elsewhere VDV is by far the best we have in the AM/2nd forward role, I don't think it suits Modric at all. If Lennon is not fit I would go with Livermore or Sandro in the middle and Modric on the right - I know it ain't ideal, and he'll drift in to allow space for Walker, interchange with VDV etc. etc. but to score I think we really need both VDV and Ade as close to the goal as possible, and I can also see some clever Modric-Walker combinations on that right side too.

If we go with everyone else's favorite position at the moment with the 4-3-3 and Modric as AM I hope we can get Sandro in there instead of Livermore as he's got a bit more drive to him. Tbh the more I think of it I wouldn't mind a midfield trio of Modric-Kranjcar-Parker (or Livermore) with Kranjcar the most advanced - at least he's got a good shot and his passing around the box is excellent.

I don't think we should go 4-4-2 but Harry might be tempted to put a bit of extra pressure on Swansea for this one as they'll be without Caulker in defence and we did great the last home game we started with 4-4-2 (which was Newcastle, right?).

Oh well, good to have options, good to have different opinions on them as well. And bloody good to have two decent results and two decent performances in the bag. I'll be on the Lane for this one, first time since I witnessed the ultimate bore of a game vs. Hearts and then the horrible ManC game back in August (Sudan's far away so not really a weekend destination), so hoping for a good performance and three vital points.

COYS!

No way Lennon should start this match, ease him back in.

Didn't get a chance to see the game last night, but having said that, I'd give Parker a rest and put Sandro in the middle with Livermore.

I'd like to see this team and i'd agree it is our best, as it puts VDV in his strongest position, but as others have said maybe Lennon should be eased back in gently. Think we've really missed him in recent weeks and we can't risk him getting injured again, will be crucial for the run in.

Could be best as an impact sub for this one after about 70 mins when hopefully Swansea will be more stretched. If we want to rest Parker I'd go with Sandro, he needs games.

I don't want Harry to change a thing, well shape wise anyway. I'd go with Mr P's team, bring Gallas and Kaboul in.

Last night was a joy to watch and it was the most fluid that we have played in a long long time. All of our attacking players interacted so well with each other. Jake is looking rather composed at this level and I do have high hopes for him.

So please keep the same formation as last night Harry

yeah it seems to have clicked with him after the Chesla game that playing VDV.Bale,Modric, and Ade all in advanced attacking roles with 2 guys doing the dog work behind them is the way to go.

no plans to try and accomadte defoe and probably lennon anymore

I'm amazed that anyone would want a different system to last night after seeing how we played. Arguably our most effective display of the season bar some poor finishing (which a change of shape wouldn't have had any impact on) and this following a similarly effective display against Chelsea.

I'd go for the same team with Friedel, Gallas and Kaboul coming in. Other than that the only decision to be made is whether Sandro comes back in for Livermore. On that one I'm completely undecided.

It would seem an awful lot of us are finally singing off the same hymn sheet and more importantly, it would appear that there is a clear system for Harry to adopt with the personnel at his helm and the side more or less picks itself.

Clarity of thought can surely only be a good thing for all concerned.
