Poch has played a few different formations actually.

This would be absolutely suicidal, everything packed in a narrow looking midfield, and a weak defense and forward line. But something makes me want to see it.

A Conte styled 3-5-2 could be interesting. In the example below you could also take out a striker and put on Lamela, or an nuber 10 or take out a midfielder for and eriksen.

Lloris

Toby Dier Verts

Walker -------------------------------- Rose

Sissoko Wanayama Dembele

Kane Janssen

352 and 411 so far, each on single occasions iirc (or was it 4411 twice?)? Yet to see a 433 from him though and it could come in handy in the CL.

Players have 4231 down and can deal with more info now. Whether he uses them much or not isn't the issue either, the main thing is to have them in you locker.

On a serious note, I have no concerns facing those ents now. They always caused us hassle and can be tricky fuckers to deal with. We can now go into beefcake mode and give as good as we get.

So you think Eriksen should only play against poorer teams? I know he's playing badly ATM, but if he reaches last season's levels, he's surely undroppable?

Whether we see any of these or not it really does highlight the sort of options we now have.

I didn't think he was that great last season but admittedly, I'm not an Eriksen fan.

We line up in a 4231 - always. But, with Poch's tactics its much more than that.

At times, we morph into a 3-5-2, with Dier dropping back, Walker and Rose pushing forward, and Alli is much more of a 2nd striker than he is a true creative #10.

I do not like Kane and Janssen playing together though - I think they are too alike to be effective together. Both a good central strikers who can hold the ball up, and who look for service to create goal-scoring chances. Kane is not really effective when he drops into the #10 role. If we do continue to play them together, I hope that we move to a more friendly 2-striker set-up, presumably a midfield diamond, with Lamela/Eriksen at the top of the diamond. This would keep both Kane and Janssen higher up. But, I don't see us moving to a diamond midfield any time soon.

For similar reasons, I hope we do not have to play Wanyama and Dier together very frequently - too similar to be an effective partnership. It will be interesting to see where Sissoko fits into this - if he is a Dembele alternative, I think we have a great mix.

I know the AM3 roam a bit, but I really prefer Lamela to stay on the right - he is so one-footed, but so good with his left, and cutting in from outside. I am hopeful that GKN can hit the ground running, so to speak, and push Eriksen and Alli. Son also is an option, but I think he may be best used as Lamela's back-up for now.

4231:
Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Alli Eriksen
Kane

433 is the same xi but Alli a bit deeper.

352
Lloris
Alderweireld Dier Vertonghen
Walker Dembele Rose
Alli Eriksen
Lamela Kane

Lamela deeper than Kane, obviously

Poch's missing a trick by not playing vince behind kane and insisting on it being the other way round imo. Vince can receive it with his back to defenders and it will stick and then lay it off for 1-2s and make dashes into the box.

Much more suited for that and then kane can play point and do what he has done for us the last two seasons.

There can also be fluidity to it of course and they swap freely, but I want to see Kane get his game going and start banging them in so want him mainly at point.
