Of course Sanchez is injured. We have awful luck with injuries.

Dier over wanyama in midfield
Not for me. Both are very very slow but wanyama just edges it for me. I dont really like either player, especially against this opposition.

That being said, Dier has played in most of our best performances and biggest results over the last 4 years.

That sitter Barca missed at the end of the last match could be coming back to haunt them.

Dier is definitely faster than wanyama. Have you seen victor this year?

Lloris
Trippier - Alderweireld - Verts - Rose
Wanyama - Sissoko
Moura - Eriksen - Alli
Son

I expect Eriksen to drift from deep to no. 10, so you could see it as a 433. Also expect rose and trips to get forward a lot with both Wanyama an Sissoko covering. Llorente and Lamela on the bench gives us attacking options if needed.

I might consider a fluid front 4 of Eriksen, Dele, Lamela & Son. That group worked very well vs Chelsea away last season.
Yes, include Lamela but I would rather drop "a recently uninspiring" Dele than a "give it all he can" Moura

I think Dele has played a slightly different role of late, he tends to try and stop our opponents playing out from the back. If you look closely he is running big distances, as is Eriksen. This reduces their impact in attack, without Harry holding the ball up they are constantly tracking backwards and forwards. The poor fitness of some of our mids and the absence of Winks is another factor. We needed two defensive mids in the first leg and a back 4. Sissoko and Waynama need to really hassle their mids.

This with the following bench: Gazzaniga, Foyth, Davies, Aurier, Lamela, Dier, Llorente

Did you see Ajax's movement out wide before we changed formation? Foyth would have a nightmare tbh...and again we need passes with penetration...as a job to man mark, yes to Foyth in some games perhaps...in this game, no way, even more so after that tackle that nearly fucked our league season.

Lloris, Trippier, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Davies, Sissoko, Dier, Eriksen, Son, Alli, Llorente.

We have to get service to, and get players around Llorente if we want to win this. IMO their keeper is suspect, so we have to test him more than in the 1st leg...and test him early at that.

Midfield need to work their socks off, expect Lamela to make an impact off the bench.

Dier is more of an athlete but looks short of match fitness, very short. Wanyama is likely to get passed around but as long as either is just the defensive element in a three man midfield they should be OK. Sissoko will have to provide the dynamism and others the creativity but we cannot let Ajax have the midfield which is their greatest strength

I actually think a fit Wanyama is more of an athlete than a fit Dier.
