I wouldn’t put Eriksen anywhere near the squad for this game. He needs the rest and the absence of one major player would not greatly affect the result.

I would be pleasantly surprised if Poch goes with any academy player here, to be honest

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez Vertonghen Rose
Dembele Winks
Sissoko Eriksen Son
Llorente

Vorm, KWP, Trippier, Davies, Foyth, Alli, Kane

You may be right. I thought the opposite though. First team takes precedence over youth comps; that's why we have a youth development system with players like FWP, Edwards and TOB. We're trying to manage our first team squad, and looking for potential step ups from our youth. The Apoel game has no competitive outcome apart from the result.

The Christmas and New Year schedule is always gruelling, and we have a first team squad that's already showing signs of strain. I'd like to see our first teamers getting a rest in a game like this and giving a chance for promising youth to get some first team experience.

The thought of giving game time to youth is a nice one, but it's a waste if it's the whole team as they need support and guidance out there. One kid can play against Real Madrid together with the first team and you won't notice him negatively. Whole team of youth however can lose to Barnet as we saw earlier this week. This time it's also a matter of whether their development gain more from this game or whether a longer campaign in the UEFA Youth League is preferable.

I reckon we should play Foyth and Walker-Peters. Perhaps even TOB and Georgiou, at least some part.

Vorm

Foyth - Sanchez - Vertonghen

KWP - Dembele - TOB - Georgiou

Sissoko - Son

Llorente

subs;
Gazzaniga, Aurier, Rose, Dier, Amos, N'koudou, Kane

Full rest to Lloris, Trippier, Davies, Winks, Dele and Eriksen.
Hopefully no need to put Dier and Kane on.

Do anyone know if Anton Walkes is back training, and whether he's eligible after his loan spell in the MLS?

Hoping Poch rotates heavily for this game. We've tried to play through this bad spell and still we're having trouble putting on a cohesive performance. We need to give a break to Kane, Eriksen, Dier etc and allow other players to have a run.

Two trains of thought;

Play a strong side with your Eriksen’s, Alli’s etc and look for a convincing win to restore some confidence or treat this as a complete dead rubber, rotate all the established first teamers for a weeks rest and play purely fringe and academy.

Think it’ll be a bit of a snore fest personally so would be nice for Poch to introduce some young’uns without any responsibility of a result needed to lift the crowd and hopefully give a few underperforming experienced players something to really think about.

People are putting TOB in there but i would have skipp in there before him. If it was out of those two then TOB plays in the youth league imo. Skipp has far more intensity to his game and is more deserving of a senior cap

Kane, Dele and Eriksen should have no involvement in this match whatsoever. Lamela and Son should be told from the off that if they perform, they’re in for the Stoke game, Winks likewise. Injuries to starters permitting, all three young players on the bench should get minimum twenty five minutes.

Why on earth does Son need to to audition in the Apoel game to get a start against Stoke ? :banghead:

As numerous other posters have said Lamela is ineligible.
