Kaboul and Sandro should be eased back into first team action and not rushed otherwise they'd have gone in my team ahead of Dawson and Capoue. I was worried that playing all of our new signings might give Arsenal an edge in the sense that their players get the importance of the derby more than ours, but looking at that team I can't see that being a problem.
I wasn't sure whether Holtby's performance tonight would have earned him a starting position over Dembele but I think we need presence in midfield against them (a draw there in the last two seasons would have got us CL football both times). Dembele hasn't been at his best recently though and I feel he needs to impose himself on games more because he has the talent to do so going forward but we do have a great record with him in the team and we tend to look more assured in midfield when he does play which counts for a lot at the Emirates.
Even if they've not made signings and we have, this game will not be easy at all and we should never underestimate them because they're still a very good footballing side that can play us off the park and rip us apart at the Emirates as they have done the last two seasons.

AVB has just been talking about Holtby in his pre match interview. Very keen to stress he's coming back from injury. I'd be shocked if he started him on Sunday after listening to that.

ah missed that. shame. but if we beat them anyway it'll be glorious and they'll be dreading coming to the lane in the return fixture with us at full strength (y)

I'd go with:

-----------------------------Lloris---------------------------
Walker--------Dawson---------------Vertonghen---Rose-
----------------------------Capoue--------------------------
------------------Paulinho-------------Holtby---------------
----Townsend------------Soldado----------------CHadli---

Subs: Friedel, Kaboul, Naughton, Sandro, Dembele, Sig/ Lamela/ Eriksen, Defoe

Agree 100%. Perfect team for me. Lamela won't be ready to start. I'd actually be surprised if he's even registered by midday Friday. He'll probably be watching the game, along with Eriksen and Chiriches.

Defoe, Sandro, Kaboul, Eriksen, Chiriches and Lamela chomping at the bit to get on.

* OUR SQUAD IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

What a bench that would be to have on the day

I think passing teams like Arsenal, Swansea and Liverpool are going to have quite a shock against us. It will be like trying to play on a pitch full of mobile bear traps, land mines and angry rattlesnakes. Arsenal's midfield virtually defines 'lightweight' and they don't have enough height to trouble us from set pieces. Their main threat will be Walcott up against Rose so Chadli will need to help out there. I can see us regularly winning the ball back high up the pitch and getting a lot of freekicks from panicking defenders. It's just a shame we probably won't have a specialist set piece taker like Bale, Ericson or Lamela to take advantage of them, but I still think we'll nick a win.

Still expect to lose this. It's coming too early for us. We haven't properly gelled and there seems to be an inevitability when visiting the Emirates.

However, I won't be too downbeat if we do lose as it won't define our season, although the gooners will have you think that.

Who knows, I may be pleasantly surprised but I'm not jumping on the bandwagon that we're going to beat them.

Some Spurs fans are taking it as if it'll be an easy victory because of their injuries & our strengthening... No chance.

All in all, come the end of the season I think we'll have smashed them at WHL and finished above them.

I think we are extremely solid looking and I fancy our chances of winning the midfield battle. For me we have to be composed and not make any silly mistakes, certainly nothing calamitous gifting them anything - that could be a disaster.

We avoid that and they're in for a very tough game I think. Could go either way but have a sneaky feeling we could end up with a score draw.

I agree they are underestimating us.

The posts on Arse-mania are extremely cocky and most seem to be expecting a win.

I worry about their movement against our defence. Walcott is going to own Rose. Also Dawson scares me. He has a terrible tendency to try 'step up' and win the ball in front of the player and it sometimes doesn't come off. He needs to be on his A-game and just keep his game to what he does best.

Who knows, I'm just not going to 'expect' a win, because frankly that's ridiculous.

I'd snatch your hand off for a draw.

Something like that.

8-0 winners.

But being serial, whatever team is fine by me. It'll be strong and good enough get a result, imo.

Worried about Rose matchup with Walcott. Only concern I really have with this one. Gut is telling me AVB goes with same team we ran out with against Swansea.

Only change I would make from that squad is Holtby for Dembele.

we are pretty strong but our movement is still not there. So far the 1st 2 test, lots of individual brilliance but little teamwork and little quick passing to unlock defences. It will come in time but too early for this derby. If we dont win, they are gonna laugh at us for spending 100 million and still the same spurs..:banghead: We need this win!:cautious:
