Come on then, I can't dwell on last night- need to drag myself from this lachrymose narrative that yesterday eve set upon us...

Alli is likely to be suspended I guess. So what is the team? We need to crack on again and secure 2nd and while the title is mathematically possible (albeit highly highly impropable) we must go about business like the majority of this season.

----------------Lloris
Walker----Toby--Verts----Rose
------------Dier---Dembele
-------Lamela/Mason/Eriksen
------------------Kane

It may not be the most popular decision, but given the impact of Chadli and Son recently I think Mason would offer a more similar role to Alli (when he's effective not like yesterday...), he can come short but will also break past Kane. Perhaps a calm presence on the ball around the box too, as well as really caring about the Chelsea rivalry....

This is assuming that Dier is ok to play, I'd also would like to see N'jie on the bench....

What do you lot think? Assuming there will be many alternative suggestions for that AM3...

I'd go with Mason also. He'd been playing well before his two injuries earlier in the season, it'd bring his confidence back up to give him a run of games now.

Dier apparently was dizzy. I think he'll be ok. Alli should never suspended so Eriksen in the hole and Son out wide.

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Alli Eriksen
Kane

Vorm Trippier Davies Mason Carroll Son Chadli
If Alli is suspended, throw in Son and put Njie on the bench. If Dier is injured, throw in Mason. Otherwise, keep it the same. Would be stupid to react to one admittedly bad performance by making changes to a side who have been absolutely brilliant lately.

Chadli for me on the left, Eriksen centrally. Those three can still interchange as usual

Regardless of whether Alli is suspended I'd give him a rest against Chelsea anyway. He was poor last night and he needs to learn about that sort of petulance regardless of whether it comes from the FA or not.

I also think we need to sort the issue of Eriksen dropping too deep. Obviously it's great if he can dictate a game, but last night he was so deep that we lost a creative option further forwards.

Walker Alerweireld Vertonghen Rose

Dier Dembele

Shame if Alli does miss out.

Pressing Fibreglass is key to stopping them play, along with doubling up on William and Hazard since the latter seems to be getting his mojo back, slowly. I think Mason is most suited to this, of our alternatives.

Lamela will help Walker for sure, but who will help Danny? Chadli and Son don't track back. Eriksen on the left it is then, he will work hard but hopefully not drift too much so as to give their right side too much room to attack.

Sounds like Dier should be fit to partner The Beast and help to keep it tight.

Keeping a clean sheet is vital if we are to secure our first win at their gaff for a generation. I can see us sneaking one or perhaps even two on the counter, assuming our final ball is of the quality we showed at Stoke. their defence looks vulnerable.

I think it will be Mason for Alli, but I wouldn't completely rule out Carroll as Poch seems to like him, won't be popular on here (maybe unfairly) but I would not be 100% surprised if he gets a start.

I actually think he has been better than Mason when he has played this season, but thats probably being a bit unfair on Mason who has hardly had a run recently.

What I don't understand is why Mason keeps getting pushed deeper by Poch. Mason grew up a striker, moved to AMC, and then Poch moved him into the pivot. He seems the most like Alli in the squad, yet he comes in for Dembele or Dier. I wouldn't mind him getting a good run in the front 4 if Alli has to serve a significant ban.

I doubt Dier is out. I didn't see anything that bad, but then again, I thought Jan was embellishing when he injured his knee.

If Dier is out, if he was just dizzy no problem, but if it's concussion he won't be allowed to play. Jan has played this position before, and for just 1 game that could still be so important i'm sure he wouldn't mind stepping up just this once. I wouldn't want to see a combo of Dembele and Mason in the middle v Chelsea.

i just don't feel Mason is strong enough in that position, feel he has struggled this season with injuries and is needing an op in the summer. shame Onamah wasn't give a few run-outs in his best position. i doubt Poch will chose the team below and if Dier is missing, i wouldn't be totally shocked if he went for Carroll in the middle.

Chadli and Son given more time in a match can see their assets they brought to the team.. Don't be surprised either one of them add their names to the scoresheet..

Mason too, but chelscum match maybe to soon for him..

Assuming Dier and Alli are both out, I'd go with

Lloris
Walker-Alderweireld-Wimmer-Rose
Dembele-Vertonghen
Lamela-Eriksen-Son
Kane
That's a better shout than people might realise if Dier was out. Jan can play, and he's got real experience now. That line-up is solid and full of intent. I like it personally.

Yeah, I remember there was talk about Vertonghen playing in midfield a few years back. Probably when Sandro got that injury. I think he definitely could do a job there for a game or two, and I think we'll struggle vs. a team like Chelsea if we don't have a proper DM.

The thing is I seem to remember Jan actually stating that he did not want to play anywhere other than CB. LB is at an absolute push and mostly that's just for the national side.

Keep the CB pairing stable, plus I am sure Dier will be ok anyway.

Chadli usually perks up for a game against Chelsea or Arsenal so I'd slightly prefer him over Son.
