Walker and Rose too.

Those are the positions we most need effective pace to make the current formation work.

Unfortunately Rose' crossing ability leaves a lot to be desired, and Walker isn't the best at picking out the right ball either. However having him back (and his attitude) will be important for the effectiveness of 4231...

Forgot about Walker, also Yedlin looks like he will be a quality addition with pace to burn, let's hope he arrives on 1st Jan!

You just know that 1 of Daws, The Snake, or Thudd will bang one in. Or all 3, knowing us.

Quite a bit of stuff in there!

MoPo has been given a vote of confidence. Gulp! Just said he is "happy" with Verts.

Dawson likely to start for Hull and Davies for us.

Walker supposedly to return v Partizan. However Dier said he did not want to play RB for England and stayed at Spurs to help his development at CB. If he has been training as CB for the last week or so why would he play at RB?
Could it be Walker returns for this game?
If RB is neither Dier or Walker, who then?

Naughton is not good enough.
I wouldn't put money on it but I have a hunch that Dier may play CB v Hull.
If Dier is unavailable at RB-who plays?

Naughton is good enough to be our back up to walker.
Would be amazed if dier is CB and we have a make shift RB

Kaboul could play there. Or Vlad at a push.
Kaboul has been popping up on the wing in recent games-mainly when he shouldn't be! I was wondering if he might pull back a midfielder like Capoue or Mason?
Chances are it will be Dier at RB, though.

Townsend and Rose doubtful after picking up injuries v Stoke.

But this pic proves Dier will be CB v Hull ;)

They've only taken five points from their last six, which hardly compares with our seven.

Verts will be off in the summer, they blatantly don't get on.

Hopefully Sunday we see Tottenham Hotspur Football Club make an appearance instead of the normal Tottenham Hotspur Football Charity. My hopes arent too high though. I'll take a point.

My updated team with todays news:
Lloris
KWP Dier Vertonghen Davies
Dembele Mason
Chadli Lamela Kane
Soldado

Vorm, Chiriches/Ball, Stambouli, Paulinho, Eriksen, Lennon, Onomah

I'm sorry to bring my negativity to the thread but I am genuinely struggling to care what the team is. I have lost all confidence in the team and poch.

Even if we make changes will the team perform any different?

I would like to see dier given a go at cb but beyond that I just don't see where any changes can be made that would make a massive difference?

Would love walker to be back for some athleticism because I think it is an area we are really lacking.

Maybe 2 up front might do something?

Agreed. Doesn't really matter what the line-up is. It will still look average at best, and the players will still sleepwalk their way through 90 minutes.

Really hope that alot crap is dropped from the side. Introduce youth and fringe players, these guys have something to prove unlike Crapoo and Adebayor. This is what saved Newcastles season, players like Ayoze Perez, Rolando Aarons and Obertan.

I would much rather see Dier paired up with Vertonghen at CB, but the RD situation forces this to be for now..... :blackeye:

sell Capoue in the winter window please - very surplus to requirements :stop::mask:

chiriches dier vertonghen davies as the back 4 tomorrow? that could work.... kaboul played well out on the right when at pompey, but the injury worries he and the team have for him probably means they would not want him "marauding" up and down the right flank....

I would like to see dier and vertonghen paired together at CB

I'm sorry but this is the problem, viewpoints like this. Picking players on perceived 'talent' even if they aren't producing the goods. So many fall into the trap of trying to pick our 11 best technical players with no thought to form and also other factors such attitude, determination, and quite frankly having a pair of bollocks about them when the going gets tough.

This game is about goals. This current squad is not scoring enough goals. Christian Eriksen has 12 league goals since last December and has scored more goals in this supposed run of poor form than Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon have in their last 62 hours of EPL football COMBINED (and that's hugely generous to Townsend/Lennon, as their goals involved a deflection and an inadvertent cross that happened to go in). Eriksen has a specific skill set (namely the ability to strike the ball with either foot from outside 15 yards) that virtually no one else in this squad has. We will go nowhere with him sitting on the bench, as the alternatives to him are significantly worse when it comes to end product.

By the way, I find it funny that you talk about form and all these other attributes, yet the team you listed in this very thread has Dembele, Lennon (at right back) and Bentaleb as starters. What form have these three shown to warrant inclusion? Give me some concrete examples of their attitude/determination vis-a-vis Christian Eriksen that makes the former worthy of a start in this game, but Eriksen not?
