I now expect to him at least be on the bench. We might get him playing in the number 10 role behind Soldado with Townsend and Lamela to his left and right?

ooooooooh throw Ade into the line up...

AVB goes crazy...

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vlad Verts
Capoue Sandro
Lamela
Townsend Ade
Soldado
...could work

A few crucial decisions for AVB:
1) Drop Dawson, was exposed by Remy hate to think what Aguero will do to him
2) Play Lamela, the time has come
3) Leave Defoe out of the squad, even thought of him coming on as a sub scares me
4) Play Ade, looks more promising on this front
5) Don't start Siggy on the left, it doesn't work

Get any of these wrong / bottle them and I give us very little chance.

Hahahaha! We aren't going to start 4-4-2 away to Man City. That would be suicide! Redknapp isn't in charge!!

If we're losing then I could see Ade coming on to partner Soldado, it would make more sense than Defoe.

We need to stay compact for a large part of the game and then open it towards the end, if we smell blood.
I'm guessing the variant on this would be to have two deeper lying central midfielders in Sandro and Capoue with Lamela and Townsend wide and Ade and Soldado up top with Ade dropping deeper to link play up.

Like you, going 442 away from home doesn't inspire me with confidence - especially at the Etihad where City are so dominant. Our away form and performances have been good in the main so if this new 'plan' is what AVB has worked on going forward then I do worry.

Ok here goes

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Chiriches Vertonghen
Sandro Capoue
Lamela Sigurdsson Townsend
Adebayor

Subs: Friedel, Dawson, Dembele, Paulinho Lennon, Chadli Soldado (reserve: holtby, Defoe)

That is an unbelievably solid back 7 and then hopefully the other 4 have enough in them to score some frigin goals

Great news that Ade is even getting a mention!!!

The missing ingredient up top for sure.

If AVB decided to hell with it and went 4-4-2, don't think he will mind, but if he did I'll guarantee anybody he would start Lennon on the right and Townsend on the left.

I would start Adebayor regardless, ahead of Soldado. It'd be a no brainer for me the way things have been going - not all soldado's fault obviously.

In light of this news my team would be:

Lloris

Walker
Kaboul
Vlad
Vertonghen

Sandro
Capoue
Dembele

Lamela
Adebayor
Townsend

With Dembele being told to really push forward. Paulinho could be a good sub late on in the game.

Still have to be mindful and we certainly don't want to abandon our collective defensive strength for a game like this but I do hope AVB springs a positive surprise here.

Think the fans need to see something which is attempting to address our problems in the final third.

If he did just that and played a flat four midfield with Lennon and Townsend on the wings at the Etihad then i'd seriously question Andre's tactical acumen henceforth.

It would backfire spectacularly!

Very pleased to hear that Ade might be in contention. Ade playing at anywhere near his best is a huge asset for any club, and he'd also suit our current set-up much better than Soldado or Defoe.

Not that I want to see Soldado dropped.

City away is not the time to try 4-4-2. Our away form is fantastic, a home game against a 'park the side' team is where we should look at trying out Adebayor with Soldado.

If we had done it against Newcastle we would of thrashed them.

Would love to see Ade play a part for us on Sunday.

Ade is a £15-£20 million striker. In a side thats not been scoring goals, having that kind of talent not even in the squad is ridiculous and verging on criminal.

Perfectly put. Really does sum up my feelings on the matter.
