Alternatively a young kid will get bullied off the park by a world cup winner, one of the best defensive midfielders in the league, and a big dirty belgium who throws elbows.

On the flip side a young hungry team may be less fazed by the old trafford experience and just go out there and play like they want it. I really think Utd are there for the taking, particularly in the first game of the season.

I'm less worries about him, tbh, but more so the fans. I wouldn't mind betting, if he has a bad game, that the ones doing him the most will be the ones who are screaming out for him to be played from the off.

The kid is obviously talented, there's a lot of hype (even my scouse mate has heard of him and is jealous we've got him) but he's so raw its hard to see him acclimatising straight away. You never know though.

Like I said, if poch thinks he's ready he's obviously performing well in training and who am I to go against that. I'd just be surprised if he's usurping dembele straight away.

I would go with:

------------------Lloris------------------
Trippier Alderweireld Verts Rose
-----------Dembele---Bentaleb------
Chadli------------Ali-----------Eriksen
------------------Kane-------------------

We need to pull our finger out over the next 4 weeks in the transfer market because as promising as it's been so far with ins and outs, that wont mean shit if we aren't able to bring in what is blatantly needed.

Anyone hear Danny Murphy on TalkSport this morning? Pissing all over our chances of a win at Old Trafford. When asked if we could win he stated 'no chance'. Cheers Dan

I think he's probably right. He's on there to give an opinion, not show allegiance.

Unfortunately, i think he is right. I just think the quality that United have brought in will be too much for us with our current squad.

I don't normally put our games in my weekend accumulator but odds of 5/8 for the Mancs win is very tempting. Also 8/11 for Everton to beat Watford.

I think we'll surprise them and run over slow midfielders and weak central defenders.

Kane
Eriksen - Dembele - Lamela
Bentaleb - Alli
Rose - Vertonghen - Alderweireld - Trippier
Vorm
(Lloris)

A Man Utd midfield including Felani & Scweinsteiger isn't likely to get "over-run" by any team this year. Their midfield is the best thing they have. This game is going to be one of the toughest fixtures we'll play this year. I'd take a draw all day long. But their defence is still in ribbons so I think we will have chances.

Isn't Fellaini suspended after getting sent off in the last game of the season?

Good point... that could well make a difference. They're still not exactly a soft touch. If Mata is quiet we could do something. But I think it's going to be very tough to come away with anything more than a point.

As of now:

Vorm
Someone* Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Veljkovic
Dembele Mason Bentaleb Someone**
Kane

Subs: McGee, Dier, Davies, Alli, Carroll, Two from Eriksen/Chadli/Lamela.
- 4-1-4-1/4-3-3.
- Lloris if fit obviously comes back in.
- Right back is a toss of the coin. Probably who does better in these games midweek decides it. At this point I'd probably favour Trippier purely on the fact that he was willing to get forward and overlap.
- We haven't brought in a midfield anchorman, so Veljkovic is still head of that queue in terms of what we have in the squad.
- Mason if fit, Alli if not.
- Dembele from wide should additionally bolster the centre of the park. Bossing this area and controlling the ball should be the main aim.
- A case could be made for all three options on the left... Eriksen might pop up with a moment of magic, Chadli most likely to get up in support of Kane and be a goal threat, Lamela most likely to hassle and put in a shift for the team.
