United are buying quality like there's no tomorrow. A loss away to them on the first day would not be a surprise.

What we do have going for us is they will not have had time to gel properly, so if we are intense (and we will be) and rattle them and pull them about, we have a chance of getting something.

Also, 'dad of toxic avenger' uses the full pitch with his formation so united will give you room to play even if they do close down quickly. So we will have the chance to play in between them and get our rhythm going.

Agree with the sentiment and line-up except no yedlin, Lamela or Townsend to come off the bench for a bit of pace of needed.

Would love to match them up and go 4-3-3, but not sure that will happen. I don't think Chadli and Eriksen should both start this one. I'd leave Chadli for an option on the bench as Eriksen could help retain the ball better.

That worked well against Arsenal and Liverpool last season - only TA coming in. And lets be honest, Dembele played in all the big games we did well in - Chelsea at home as well.

Wouldn't over complicate it too much for the first game, particularly at a place like OT.

Everyone is talking about Utd's incoming signings. And while they have more quality in most if not all areas hopefully they have not fit into the system yet. We should know better than anyone that having 11 players that buy into the philosophy, fit the system and follow their manager's instructions works better than having players that haven't got to grips with their roles and the instructions their manager have asked them to carry out. So with that in mind I can't see us playing many players we sign beyond the next couple weeks.

If we're playing 4-3-2-1, I can assure you a healthy Chadli will start. He contributed too much last year for Poch to ignore.

Maybe not a better option in most games however when you come up against the threat of pace that Utd have you have to match up or your in trouble, from what I have seen of Trippier he does have trouble dealing with quick players & if he starts & has a howler(which he probably would against there pace) it's not the best way to start your career with a new club.. there is plenty of games in a season where he won't be up against the pace Utd have & in those games not a problem with him starting.. horses for courses.

Mason is probably our best presser that's why I would put him there because we will have to stop them playing out from the back & he can put pressure on there fullback & CB, also there will be times when we are under pressure & in that instance he can tuck-in or if needed double up on Depay. Lamela is also really good at pressing & to stop Kane been isolated I would play him behind Kane. Longterm I think Mason would be better utilised further forward, for this game skill alone we don't match up to Utd so we have to have that added work edge to make up the difference & as we know Chadli doesn't have as high a work-rate as Mason, so that's why I think for this game he should play instead of him.
