Some of the new boys have hardly trained with the team.
Feel we need Dembele and Adebayor in there.
Dempsey however with little pre season I'd have come on from the bench for an easy debut,
also about building up Sigurdsson preventing him from becoming a permanent reserve like we saw with Pienaar and many others. Parker probably need to get more fit before he's involved again.
Lazio game is a good time to have Lloris, Naughton, Dawson, Caulker, Huddlestone kick start their season.

even at his age he is still seen as a superior defender. if his fit and sharp then he is the all round better defender for me and should start ahead of Dawson regardless of how old he is. If he can manage 1 game a week then good for him. We have this every season since we signed him, people say he is old and shit for the first few games of the season and then he looks immense after a month or so and all statements are swiftly retracted

I don't disagree that he is a good defender, and he is a good player to have in the squad. However, in the WBA game (and, from what I saw of highlights, the Norwich game) we didn't do a good job of clearing balls played into the box at height. This is Dawson's forté.

Moreover, it's only a matter of time before Gallas' calves (or was it his hamstrings?) start to go again - for the sake of continuity I would much rather Dawson be playing alongside Verts whilst Kaboul is out.

Agreed. I'm not a Livermore hater, but he's a limited footballer and should only be brought on for freshness and extra energy IMO.
