How the fuck those guys get paid to comment on Gillette soccer Saturday is fucking unbelievable. Merson is so thick its unreal.

Its fucking six games in, SIX GAMES.

And the answer is to play Lennon and Townsend on the wings.

Well stone me.

Merse isn't that bad to be fair to the ole goober, he's thick but he knows it so give him a yard or two

No, he really is bad. It's all well and good being a moron and knowing it, but it's inexcusable to be such a tosser at the same time.

Think I'd put Kane in for Soldado. Deserves a start in the PL.

I think Kane has more success playing a bit deeper. In all honesty, I think your original say is better, and we really should be looking to try Soldado out with those 3. Out of the 3 behind the striker I think Eriksen is the quietest at the moment, albeit he is a real threat at set pieces, so if he has a quiet game I think Kane would be an excellent option to come on in the number 10 role. Kane can also contribute out wide, although not as involved and lacks pace, but I'd rather play him than someone like Lennon or Townsend who are blessed with pace but lack brains.

Paulinho on the wing wasn't that clever whichever way you look at it.
In hindsight I agree.
But we might need these player's if injuries or suspensions occur.
Better to play them in the cup's and see if they can regain form.

Paulinho wont regain form on the wing though, this isn't anything anti Poch there was just no logic to the decision.

I think he might have been trying to create an interchangeable AM 3.
It obviously didn't work.

Probably, in reality it only works on paper unless you have better AM's, or fullbacks stretching the opposition, sometimes there is too much theory on what might work.

Unfortunately this is what chairmen/managers/coaches have to deal with, know it all's that talk absolute bollocks like it's gospel, who (sadly) actually have some sway with fans, and can contrbute to a coach's demise. :(

Exactly. Such a shame that people listen to these guys, and they're not even paying that much attention to Spurs either.

Two weeks ago I read Merson's preview of the West Brom game. He had our game down as 'cert' of the weekend. Two League games later and we're the worst in the world.

Its utterly laughable and it makes my blood boil.

On to other things, are the tv pundits a fan of absolutely awful football and watching useless players? Because thats what they get with Lennon and Townsend. Tell them to watch Europa and cup games with them and then see what they say after. Neither one of those 2 should start a PL match again. They add less than nothing. Hope they're sold at first offer in January.

It's the classic backward english mentality. Why try and play any 4231 dynamic bollocks. When you can just play a pwoppa 442 with top english lads on the wing slinging balls into the box! Lovely jubbly!

4-2-3-1 is dynamic? Dynamic? Are you having a bubble, bruv?
Not playing 4-4-2 at home in the EPL is dumber than dumb especially against the lower teams.

You really don't understand some basic concepts do you?

4-4-2 doesn't always mean more attacking, sometimes it means the polar opposite. I guarantee you if we let Southampton have a man advantage in the middle of the park we'd be in trouble. They're strong enough in that area let alone with a man advantage in there.

City switched from a 4-4-2 tonight and its won them the game.

For me, we need to stop playing the same old and expecting different results, I would like to see a 3-5-2 with two attacking centre backs and Capoue holding

Chiriches-Kaboul-Vertonghen

Naughton--------Capoue-----------------Rose

Lamela-----------Mason---------------Eriksen

--------------------Chadli-----------------------

-------------------Soldado-----------------------

Have Naughton and Rose providing width and let Lamela and Eriksen cut in and do the business and Vertonghen and Chiriches joining Capoue in midfield when we attack.

It obviously didn't work.

At first when I saw the line up I thought he was going to play Kane out wide to keep Paulinho central, and I'm really glad he didn't. Kane suits the role behind the striker more than he does out wide, but he can do a good job wider as, even if he doesn't have pace, he's good technically and has a good brain on him. Works hard too.

The interchangeable AM 3 only really works when all 3 AMs have the ability to stretch the play by coming out wide and remain creative enough to make space for themselves and others in the centre. Paulinho isn't suited to playing out wide, he's always been in a central role, be it DM, CM or AM. Don't know if he ever did play as a winger in his early days, but certainly not since he started becoming successful. Likewise, Lennon and Townsend don't suit being in an AM trio either as neither of them have the ability to play centrally. They rely too much on their pace and stay wide, and lack the brains to have to deal with opponents all around them in a central position.

It did for tim
Tim played with 1 up top alot too. Tim failed because he has no clue how to set up a team and pretty much lost every single player in the dressing room, bar ade and bentaleb. We scored more goals because he opened it up(way too much, in every game) and because of a few moments of brilliance in the games from eriksen and ade. In reality, we played like shit every game under him except for like 1. This has been beaten to death a thousand times over.

Everyone should stop bringing last year up, my self included. Its a new season and a new manager. Stop dwelling on the past and look at the present and the future. COME ON YOU MOTHER FUCKING SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!
