Start Son - he gives us dynamism and you don't drop someone whose netted a hattrick. Son is an infectious player when he's brimming with confidence and that will lead to chances created.

The ideal scenario is like in most of our recent games, we go up early on and force the opposition to rethink their strategy.

If we are on our game and get to 60-65 with a 2 goal lead then that's time to bring Janssen on. Long enough for him to make his mark and if he doesn't we are in control of the game anyway.

Son just scored a hatrick, got MOM, and looked on fire and some on here are suggesting we drop him for someone who has in all honesty been out of sorts despite scoring yesterday .......really?

I'd probably play Son and Winks over Kane and Demebele other than that is go with the team who played against Everton. I think we are just more creative with Winks in the side. Also Trippier is very unlucky to have not earned a start

My XI

Lloris
Dier, Toby, Vertonghen ,
Trippier , Wanyama, Winks, Davies
Eriksen, Son, Alli

If we are playing Son & Alli up top then we need pace & crispness in midfield & intelligence down the wing... Given Dembele isn't in top form , I would play Winks ahead. Trippier IMO , deserves a chance in PL.

Having said above, am sure Poch is gonna play Dembele & Walker

With the good form of both players, I've wondered recently if there might not be moments when we might play both of them together...not sure which as nominal fullback and which as nominal winger. Does anyone else think that wouldn't be completely ridiculous (if you think it's completely ridiculous, don't feel the need to massacre me with negative vibes :))
Not a stupid idea in a 442 if we want width (i.e. non-inverted wingers), and that might suit Wembley games on the wider pitch. But with 3 at the back, you'd be asking one of them to play as the attacking 3? That would be madness.

It's the same formation with Lloris and Walker for Vorm and Trippier or drop Dier allowing us to cater for both Son and Janssen.

Really intrigued to see how we fare on Sunday, will obviously be the perfect indication of how well we may cope without Kane against a strong team. If we see a good performance it might just really raise spirits a bit and give a lot more hope for our upcoming fixtures.

To be fair to Son, he's never played as a CF when we've played 3 at the back. It'll probably suit him more than when he was covering for Kane when we were playing 4 at the back. It'll mean he shouldn't naturally drift out wide.

Everton team apart from Son in for Kane.

Didn't he play there against ManC?

Ahh you are correct. Could have sworn that was the first glimpse at 3 at the back

Think it was Arse away, we bought Wimmer in for Toby after his injury against WBA.

Seem to remember us drawing a lot of league games around that time.

Lloris
Dier Alderweireld Vertonghen
Walker Wanyama Dembele Davies
Dele Eriksen
Son

Vorm Trippier Wimmer Winks Sissoko Nkoudou Janssen
Of course assuming the absense of Rose, Lamela and Kane.

Yeah it should be that. I can't really see why it would be anything different. Kane missing against Southampton is frustrating, he does have a good record against them

Was 4-1-4-1 against Man City, we persisted with that system for a couple of games after I think but never clicked as well as that first game using it.
