Ok, the Champions League game has left us all a little shellshocked, but try and pick what you genuinely think is the team that beats Stoke:

Gomes
Corluka Dawson King Ekotto
Lennon Huddlestone Modric Bale
Keane Pavlyuchenko

Bench: Cudicini Kaboul Bassong Palacios Kranjcar Defoe Crouch

Of course, if Modric is injured, I'd play Palacios in the middle and put Sandro on the bench. The same goes for Defoe, who if he's unfit I'd replace with Giovani on the bench

Crouch for this game would be my first name on the team sheet.
We need his height and we need him to win defensive headers.

Crouch has to start, simple as. We all know that Stoke want to batter us with their set pieces, and his ability to defend them takes away their primary weapon.

I dont believe King will play for 1 minute! I expect a few to miss out tbh - the game on Weds is 100X more important than Stoke and i think the team will reflect that. I would go with

Gomes
Kaboul
Dawson
Bassong
Ekotto
GDS/Lennon
Palacios
Huddlestone
Krancar
Keane
Crouch

Modric/Defoe picked up knocks so i wouldnt risk them and I would rest Bale and King for Weds. Kaboul for Corluka as I think he is the better player. Unsure about GDS/Lennon - depends on how fit Lennon is.

Honestly I think I would rest King for this game, Modric too. Corluka doesn't look fit to me either, he seems to have lost a yard of pace which is scary considering how slow he was before.

I'd go with:

Gomes

Walker----Dawson----Bassong---Ekotto

Lennon----Huddlestone---Palacios----Bale

Keane----Pavlyuchenko

Hopefully Palacios and Lennon can play their way into some form, both just look a little short of match sharpness. But hopefully that side will be solid and we can attack them out wide.

We desperately need King's experience for the YB game on Wednesday night, so he'll probably be rested for that one. Plus he's GOT to be the one to lead us out for our first CL game at WHL. Simple as that.

COYS!
