Sissoko in that position doesn't work. Newcastle fans will tell you that very definitely.

Also Janssen RW? o_O

West Brom is a must win game. It's also the biggest game because it's next. Absolute full strength and assess afterwards for Germany. Surely we've learned from last season that no game, especially West Brom, can be taken lightly.

I don't really think he was excellent, I don't think he was anymore excellent against city than Vorm was in his last game (Liverpool I think?), but Lloris also put us under pressure against City several times with his poor distribution.

I think there's a slight tendancy on here to call every good save Lloris makes exceptional, when really they are saved you'd expect any top/very good keeper to make.

I think Vorm was a excellent in his few games, played the sweeper role really well and didn't keep making poor distribution mistakes.
I completely agree with the bolded, but I would say that both performances were excellent, 9/10-type range, rather than just being regulation, if you like.

Some of Lloris work in the City game was brilliant imo, particularly that save from the Walker deflection.

I agree that his distribution is certainly a liability at times, but for the most part I think you're slightly underrating him. I'm also of the opinion that his leadership and the affect that he has on the defence is vital. It's a guess, but I don't think it would be very wide of the mark to say that I imagine that they would feel much more confident as a unit with Lloris in goal.

#thfc Pochettino on Dembele: "It’s minor but it’s painful for him - when he touches the ball it’s painful for him.”

#thfc Dembele will be assessed tomorrow. The problem now is "he got a knock in his foot in training, and that’s an old problem".

  3. #thfc Pochettino says Kane could be back training outside next week, although not with the group just yet.

Vorm? After Lloris was excellent against City?

I think this is actually a hard match to call the line up for.

I can see the sense in rotating players, including the goalies a bit. Presumably, it would contribute to keeping Vorm match fit for cup games and reduce the risk of exhausting Lloris (although goalies can play loads of matches without a problem).

They play with quite tall defenders all over, all 4 are well above 6 feet. Which can suggest that Janssen's muscles might be a good fit. But their sound defensive record might suggest that outrunning them is the way to go.

I believe the left side of their defence (our right side when attacking) is considerably weaker than the opposite side. That might point to including a player on the right hand side that's proven more attacking value this season. And Walker must play IMO.

On the other hand, I'm a huge believer in not changing a winning team. The last line up beat the league leader, and that must weigh in heavily in choosing this line up.

In pure doubt, I'm guessing i'd go for:

Lloris
Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose
Wanyama
Eriksen Alli
Lamela Son
Janssen

West Brom are the type of team that has caused us to drop points in the past and for that reason I'll be 'bricking it'. Mind you I should state that I 'brick it' during virtually every match Spurs play. I hope you all feel my contribution to this thread has been useful.

@Bulletspur @Francis Gibbs

I'm curious, do you actually think he didn't do a poor job defending that set piece? His man did jump over him to score.
One mistake. If we were to follow your irrational logic and not play Sissoko because of a mistake that conceded a goal, then might as well not play half of the squad.

I'm keen to see N'Koudou start versus WBA. He's fresh and his skill set should be what's needed to break down a defence coached by Pullis. Eriksen also - because of his dead ball prowess. I don't expect it to be an easy game. I just hope that the crowd is patient if we don't score early.

I think Lamela will play. He didn't get any minutes for Argentina in the two games so he will be hungry to get out there. Imagine he flew back yesterday/this morning so should be ok for at least 60mins.

The same team that smashed City should start. Simple

Not sure it is that simple. I suspect that part of the reason Son played upfron was because he could do the front line pressing better.

Internationals are such bullshit. Especially when it's so close to the start of the season.

Can't believe Son got injured playing in shit games against Qatar and Iran.

We all knew it was going to happen.

No Walker or Vertonghen in the pictures either, hope they're both OK as they've been immense so far this season.

It's absolutely crucial that Walker plays. He and Rose are so important to the system and you can really notice when one of them is out that we suffer. I'm sure we would not have lost to Monaco if Rose had played instead of Davies. He and Tripper are great back ups but our two first choice are just on another level.

I wouldn't be too concerned with Vertonghen as Wimmer has proved he can slot in without issue alongside our Rolls Royce Toby.
