But sadly we've been dealt a shit hand with how they have scheduled our upcoming games.
It’s unbelievable — they haven’t played a match since January 9th, us the 17th. There’s no reason this match shouldn’t have been scheduled for this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday at the latest.

Their squad are getting over Covid im sure they will appreciate the time to train and get some fitness back. If you were Wycombe would you want to move it to help us or keep it and give yourself more time to prepare?

Based on that:

-------------Hart------------
Tanganga-Toby-Rodon-Davies
------Ndombele-Winks------
--Bale-------Lamela-----Lucas--
-----------Vinicius---------

Subs: Lloris, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Son, Kane, Scarlett

Tanguy off first when the job is hopefully done.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us start a much stronger team than most are suggesting here. We have 8 days between Sheffield United and Wycombe anyway, and then 4 to Liverpool. Players will be rested for Liverpool whether they play Wycombe or not.

I’d probably go pretty sting, get the game won by half time and remove as many key players as early as possible.
Marginal gains of having completely fresh players v Liverpool shouldn't be underestimated. The pool game is massive for the rest of the season, theyve been slogging and now have united on Sunday. We should really take the opportunity that a kind draw presented us, and rest all eleven planned starters v Liverpool.

No disrespect to Wycombe but if we can't beat the last placed team in the Championship without Tanguy, then we have some really serious squad issues. Plus, we have Liverpool on Thursday and Brighton on Sunday and need Tanguy as fresh as possible for both games.

Enter Tanganga and Bale I hope.
Good point. And to go one step further, I think it might be time for Jose to reassess where we are playing Bale. It is clear that Gio is a non entity this season. If true that he is out for another three weeks, then right around the time he starts to find his feet again, it will be mid April. In short, his season is a wash. So, if Jose decides he likes playing Tanguy a little deeper, then perhaps Bale can start playing a more central role. In a way somewhat similar to Beckham later in his career would often play as a roaming 10. He had lost a lot of his pace, but still had excellent control, strength, and vision. I do think Bale is highly capable of emulating that style.

Doherty is a doubt and Cirkin hasn't been available due to injury and possibly bereavement.

If Doherty and Aurier are out and just for discussion we don’t play Tanganga at right back.

Is there any good academy right backs who could make the step up?

Depends on how Tanganga is viewed long term, but I’ve long thought (way before mourinho said it) that he’s destined to be a right back and in fact, is the good academy right back who should make the step up. I know he didn’t played there in the academy but with his athleticism and bravery I think he could make right back his position given the chance.

We're unlikely to field an untested academy RB in a FA Cup game. Our other RB options in the 1st team are Gedson, Sissoko or Toby if neither Doherty, Aurier or Tanganga can play for any reason.

Just please rest Ndombele, Kane, Son and Hojbjerg - only call upon them if needed and to to give them some match sharpness near the end Jose. That’s all.

Cue all 4 of them starting Monday.

Hart

Tanganga Alderweireld Rodon Davies

Sissoko Winks

Bale Lamela Lucas

Vinicius

Agree that Ndombele, Højbjerg, Kane and Son should all get 30 minutes or so off the bench as well just to keep them sharp for Liverpool.

Personally think we need to give the likes of Kane, Son, and co minutes. Professionals need match sharpness, and the Liverpool game would be 14 days rest for these players which I think would be too much, if they don’t play tomorrow and worry they’ll start Liverpool’s game cold

Im sure it’s 5 subs allowed in the FA cup, so I’d start with our strongest team and hopefully win the game with the hope of subbing our key players between 45-60mins.
