I don't think we will rest our top players for this game. It sends a bad message. We've matched well with City in recent fixtures and have a five day break following the match.

Agree and I'm optimistic about this game more than many others are. Yes, we played 120 minutes today, but we did so vs Chelsea in the Carabao earlier this season and trounced Maccabi Haifa 7-2 two days later and Man U 6-1 a couple of days after that. If recent history is anything to go by, we'll see very little possession in this game and rely on clinical finishing on breaks. Fingers crossed that'll mean the players legs are all up for it.

Hope Aurier is fit. Think we might need to rotate some due to tired legs. I suggest throwing in a surprise with Dane Scarlett and his youthful energy. Could be nice to have fresh Son later on in the game.

Lloris (c)
Aurier (!?), Rodon, Dier, Tanganga
Ndombele, Højbjerg
Lamela, Lucas, Scarlett
Kane.

Hart, Doherty, Sanchez, Davies, Devine, Sissoko, Dele, Bergwijn, Son

That's the team. Will need Sissoko's work rate for sure.

Can't see anything less than an absolute drubbing this Saturday. With the quality City have and our tired legs, it's going to be an ugly affair all around. Jose will have to make some significant team changes as the likes of Davies, Toby and Lamela have racked up some significant minutes in a short amount of time.

Hugo
Aurier - Rodon - Dier - Tanganga
PEH - Ndombele
Stevie - Kane - Son
Vinicius

Subs: Dele, Sanchez, Lucas, Bale, Tanganga, Lamela, Davies

no sub keeper?

It won't happen and it arguably the wrong mindset but I think this game is about accepting a tough game and resting players for the important weeks ahead regarding EL

Lloris
Aurier Dier Rodon Tanganga
Sissoko Ndombele
Bergwijn Kane Lucas
Vini
I think Son and Hojberg no matter how good their fitness levels are need a rest, we can't afford injuries to them right now. I think davies simply isn't good enough and despite playing an all right-footed back 4 being a bad idea, I think starting him would be worse. And considering how important Lamela has been these last few games (best player IMO) I think he also needs a rest as we couldn't afford one of his monthly injuries right now.

Lloris
Aurier Dier Rodon Reguilón
Højbjerg Ndombele
Lucas Lamela Son
Kane

Hart Doherty Sanchez Davies Sissoko Dele Bale Bergwijn Vinicius
  • If no Aurier, play Tanganga
  • If no Reguilón, play Davies, promote Alderweireid to the bench.
  • If no Bale, promise Scarlett or Devine to the bench.

I have spent a lot of my time on this forum trying to find reasons to defend certain players time after time and now is the time I have to admit I was either wrong or misguided in doing so . The players are Dele who does not seem to care / Moura who for all his effort is just woeful .
Doherty wrong player wrong time . and last of all after going out on a limb time after time trying to defend Winks I have come to the realisation that the detractors are right just does not have the quality . Gutted especially with Moura he seems to play like he has been planted by the opposition to bugger things up When there are slick moves going on he will muck things up he often misses easy chances I think he is frightened of missing and the pressure assures that he mostly does miss and worst of all he seems to get in the way sometimes but as always you cannot fault his effort just his end product . I have seen him in many games where you would think the good players would shoot but Moura when he should shoot he passes bloody useless .

Hopefully Aurier and Reggie are ready to go.

Dias could be out for them which is a huge boost.

I say we write this one off and try not to concede too many. Then put our best team out for the remaining games.

I can’t remember if it was last season or the season before when we lost 1 nil? at City with circa 8 defenders on the pitch and 1 offensive player lol

We either completely shut up shop or subject to fitness try and play our early season counter attacking football.

Doherty- Rodon - Alderweireld - Sanchez - Davies

I know Tanganga is considered a utility player, but to play left back and be on the bench at the same time is really sumit!!
