Whether Soldado or Adebayor has been utilized as the deeper player depends on what you look at. On one hand, when the opponent is in possession of the ball and on our half of the pitch, you will more frequently see Adebayor falling back. In fact quite deeply so. Also whilst defending set pieces, we utilize Adebayor far back due to his presence in the air.

However, when we possess the ball on the opponent's half, or when we are trying to win back the ball on the opponents half, there is no doubt in my mind that Soldado is consistently the deeper player of the two. I say this based on the match vs. Stoke and vs. ManUtd. I sat in almost the exact same spot both at home and away. (The rest of the matches I've seen on screen only).

Bearing in mind how far back Adebayor sometimes is, it is interesting that despite that, his average position on the heat chart above (#10) is still slightly ahead of Soldado (#9)

Whether I am happy with this way of sharing the work load is still to be determined. On one hand, I'd prefer the roles when we are in possession of the ball to be swapped. On the other hand, I quite fancy how well Soldado is working for the team in this role. To me he is almost the complete forward, and there will be no "almost" once he starts scoring more regularly.

Where am I going with this in terms of this tread. Vs. Palace, I do believe it would advantageous should Soldado should be rested to completely recover from his slight knock. Who else to fill in for Soldado than...Lamela. Yes, he might be a tad to physically weak to own that role at this point. But I don't care for this specific match. Infact, I'd quite enjoy seeing him up against the likes of Parr and Bolasie (which might be among the opposing players in the room Soldado often fills).

The rest of the team as vs. ManUtd.

the below paints a more accurate picture of where they spend most of their time on the pitch. It clearly shows that Ade spends more time in deeper positions

Jesus calm down mate.

You said his natural position is right wing, which is wrong.

I never once have said I think he should play up front.

However, his natural position is in an advanced role behind the striker, a trequartista if we want to be fancy. That's where he played most often as a youth and for River... It also gets the most out of his attributes.

He only played right wing/right wing forward role for Roma to accommodate the brilliant yet immobile Totti in the trequartista role.

Stop getting your knickers in a twist.

I agree, to get the most of of Lammy, Timmy just needs to right click him and select the bottom option.

I mean, it's pretty easy, once you do all of Lammy's Dark Blue attributes will be highlighted.

I was going to post a picture of that as a joke but it maybe not the best idea...

Maybe there is a hint on the team in the Training gallery.

They seem to play a game.

Players in blue: Soldado, Adebayor, Dembele, Bentaleb, Dawson, Rose, Chiriches, Lennon, Eriksen...
Players in pink team: Lamela, Holtby, Capoue, Sandro, Friedel, Kane, Kaboul and a few youngsters

judging by the training photos : http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/xtra-gallery-jan-9-090114/

I'm expecting the same line up which started against Arsenal : lloris,Walker,Daws,Vlad,Rose,Bentaleb,Dembele,Lennon,Eriksen,Ade,Soldado
Good spot.

Be slightly annoyed if it is the same team.

I'm excited for see Bentaleb's progression as a footballer but aside from that first cameo he really hasn't justified getting a starting spot again.

It frustrates me that IMO it seems Tim is trying to make Bentaleb into his 'prodigy'.

Also we need some rotation.

Good spot and I think u might be right. I don't know why we would play the same team as Arsenal, it didn't work and we should be looking at how to improve. I really hope there is no meaning behind these pics but it seems a little too coincidental that all the players that are recovering from injury are wearing bibs and the team from the Arsenal match are not. Was really hoping to see Lamela and Capoue on Saturday.

Well I'm pleased Soldado is in the pictures! I think he's been truly excellent of late.

Really can't understand why Capoue is not being selected. A really good defensive anchor with a nice passing range. If we're going down the 4-4-2 route for now he offers a far bigger physical presence than Bentaleb and obviously he's more experienced - and that's important particularly with the off the ball stuff...like positioning and the defensive screening.

So unless Sandro is coming in, it really is the only point of contention for me a the moment.

Agree with many on here. Starting Bentaleb ahead of Capoue is madness.

If we are to persist with the 4-4-2, here is the team I would like to see:

Lloris
Walker - Dawson - Vlad - Rose
Lennon - Capoue - Dembele - Eriksen
Ade - Soldado

I still think our primary formation should be 4-3-3, but with a game at home vs Palace, 4-4-2 probably isn't such a bad shout. However, I still think Tim made a huge mistake with his line-up vs Arsenal.

bentaleb uses the ball better than capoue, that's why sherwood prefers him.

In recent games, that is true. Capoue hasnt found his rhythm again just yet but he needs time on the pitch to do so.

Im happy with either to start vs palace though, more game time for Bentaleb will only do positive things for confidence and football.

From BBC:

TEAM NEWS
Tottenham's injury crisis shows no sign of abating and Tim Sherwood is still without a host of first-team regulars.

Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul are not yet ready to return, while Erik Lamela, Sandro, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lewis Holtby and Paulinho are all absent.
