I thought it looked like the usual 343 to me at the game. Royal, Romero & Lenglet were passing across the back as normal. Royal certainly did not look like he was in a traditional RB position. It’s also how the team sheet was announced in the stadium.
Ryan said that’s how it looked to the naked eye 👁️ so you must have naked eyes 😂 but really it was a hybrid with 4-4-2 he said

They definitely started in a 442 but likely through habit it turned into a 343 for most of the game.

Isn't Tuchel famous for this sort of hybrid?

We lost a CL final. We missed out on CL despite finishing 4th. Lasange Gate happened. For the last 25 years our most bitter rivals have won countless trophies between them. But that booing really takes the biscuit!
There's a difference between being disappointed with a result and being disappointed with your tribe...

Fans are longing for trophies, and still hope that we miss out on the very winnable Conference League. I don't understand that.
If we qualify for it, it is the perfect opportunity for a new coach to blood youngsters in and work on his system.

Coaches like Nagelsmann can approach these games much better.

Big credit to Mason for the tactical change today.

Out of possession a clear 442, with Richarlison and Kane pressing up top, Son and Porro LM and RM, Davies at LB and Emerson RB.

In possession, a 343 with Son pushing to LWF, Richy going RWF, Davies and Porro high and wide, Emerson tucking in to form a back 3 with Lenglet and Romero.

The funny thing is there are some similarities with this to how Nagelsmann sometimes sets his teams up.

I would tweak it slightly and put a creative attacking midfielder in for Richarlison. Then we build up it would be more of a 352, it would remain a 442 out of possession with the CAM pressing with Kane up top. If we could add a more dynamic, quick LB it would help a lot too though Davies was solid defensively at least. Add in a quality LCB, Benny and Bissouma CM and all of a sudden our prospects look drastically more positive. We could even play Deki on the right instead of Porro as it’s more of a RM/RAM role than pure wingback or defensive role.

Really excited by Mason making these tweaks today and also because it has shown that Nagelsmann could potentially do something really good with us in a similar shape should we add the right players to the group.

I was unable to watch or follow the game but knew the line up and know the score

Is is as simplistic as saying not having Dier made the difference?

Too simplistic.

But, with no Dier, it did allow Romero to step up with his best game in a while as the CCB. It also meant we moved the ball a little quicker - but still got bogged down when it went in to Skipp and Hojbjerg.

Royal and Porro worked well together on the right.

Think Romero central will reduce his rashness issues plus although he does have great forward passes he is rather slow at moving the ball so CCB will suit him like the position he had at Atalanta

Curious question. Do they run tours from South Korea to come and enjoy the delights of N17?
Maybe they're all members and or live over here, students maybe, they are usually young people.
I guess if any South Korean people come to the UK they're going to want to see Sonny play so maybe they do.
Anyway they're a good lot and add to the atmosphere if you ask me.

1-0 but all a bit flat and pedestrian. Really lacking that creative type of player who can help unlock stubborn defenses. Not helped that 4 years of defensive football has shackled us somewhat. Not much is going to change until a new manager comes in next season.

Not a whole lot happened in that game. Well done to Harry Kane again for making the difference.

Yes they do. Lot's of countries have either fan clubs or private operators who help organise travel. Not sure why South Korea would be any different.
