depending on whether Jose is going with Sanchez or Rodon for Chelsea. I would like to see Dier start Thursday if its going to be Sanchez so they can get 90 minutes in together before the weekend. If it is going to be Rodon at the weekend I would rest Dier along with the rest of the key players.

I wish Rodon would be available, would be great to see what he can do for 90 minutes.

Hart
Doherty - Sanchez - Dier - Davies
Hojbjerg - Winks
Lo Celso
Bale - Vini - Lucas

Bench: Kane, Son, Dele, Ndombele, Aurier, Tanganga (if healthy), Sissoko

Hojbjerg is such a key player at the moment and we simply don't have back-up for him. He needs a rest though, as does Kane and ideally Dier.

It really sucks that we have such a hard run of games just now. Between our uniquely insane early season schedule and the traditionally insane christmas schedule, this would be the time where we would like to be rotating more and resting key players. So it is just our luck to have to play city, arsenal, chelsea and liverpool in this stretch.

Doherty tested + for COVID-19 and is in isolation. I believe he has another week and 3 days until he can rejoin the team.

Dier I can understand because he was basically brought up within the coaching set up of Portugal, but I don't understand Rodon or Davies if that's true.
Because Uefa deem the English and Welsh FA as two different associations.
According to Ally Gold spurs were happy to sign him after the deadline because of the fact he would not be considered homegrown.

Davies isn't 'Homegrown' for UEFA because I believe he did his 3 full seasons, or whatever, just as the jurisdiction changed for Swansea (https://www.theguardian.com/football/2011/may/06/fa-faw-cardiff-swansea).

Prior to 11/12, Swansea was part of the Welsh FA but in the English league. 11/12 onwards, Swansea were moved to be under the English FA as an FA member in the Football League. Same with Cardiff, I believe, but I'm not sure with Wrexham because they were technically just outside of the Football League in the Vanarama or whatever then.

UEFA HG Player Status:
regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21.

Ben Davies turned 21 on 24 April 2014. If the above jurisdiction started August 2011, he would have been 4 months out of time for being able to sneak in. Assuming all the UEFA stuff aligned and all that.

I'm not sure enough about the Rodon eligibility, but I believe he is 'Homegrown' (Association Trained):
Association-trained players – players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight 'local' nominees on List A.

He's just not 'Club Trained':
Club-trained players – players who were on a club's books for three years between the ages of 15 and 21;

It's the same 25 HG incl. 17 Non-HG type affair, but the 8 HG has a little pocket within in that says you can only have a maximum of 4 'HG' players who aren't Club-trained.

If you're still following, it's best thought of as 8 x HG( Club Trained plus max of 4 x Association Trained), 17 x Neither. I'm guessing that the players we sacrificed weren't in the right category to exchange for Rodon anyway.

Don't mind Hojbjerg playing this match, I just think he's one of those players who doesn't get tired or injured or drop his levels, almost like a cyborg of some sort.

I thought I saw he was back after a negative test but I might have got him confused with Salah. I'd prefer Tanganga at RB if available then.

Tanganga Sanchez Davies Cirkin
Winks GLC

Whiteman Austin Marsh Reguilon Okedina White ndombele sissoko Clarke Son Bale Etete

Assuming all goes to plan minutes for white & Clarke and some for bale and maybe a small cameo for Etete ?

I'd play Sissoko & Winks because I think we have other options for Sissoko & Hojbjerg needs to be kept for Chelski.

In a recent game for ROI Doherty played centreback for a very large part of the game and was excellent. Could be useful with Toby injured and when he’s back from covid.

I literally saw Ally Gold say Roden is not HG in relation to Uefa. Fast forward the video to 5.15 and AG will clarify the situation.

This has to be a game to risk it. In-between city and Chelsea and home to ludogrets. I would rest every first team player.

Hart
Tanganga. Sanchez. Davies. Cirkin
Winks. Lo celso. Dele.
Lucas. Vinicius. Bergwijn

I am presuming lamela and Doherty are out. I am also resting bale, so he can play the 90 against Chelsea. If things are going well, rest lo celso in the second half.

Infact, I might even play white instead of lo celso.

Bad as this may sound I dont think that line up is good enough to win

I’m really intrigued as to what Jose will do here. He’s pushed the next game mantra, and so whilst everyone is suggesting wholesale changes, and I would like that too, I can see a few surprises. Maybe starting stronger and looking to change early.

At the end of the Man City game Vinicius was one of the first people Jose turned too and he grabbed him and said something with real purpose and Vinigoal beamed. I would happily bet he said to him "You are playing Thursday".

Is Tanganga fit? Haven't seen him all season other than the Chelsea cup game I don't think.

Really need to be telling Kane, Son, Hojbjerg, Reguilon and Dier to be staying at home and having a nice hot bath on Thursday evening without travelling to the ground or doing the warm up exercises. Bale, Vinicius, Bergwijn, Lucas and Alli should be more than enough firepower to deal with Ludogorets at home, so if Winks and Tanganga are fit enough to give the defence and midfield a break too then we'll be in a good place for Sunday.
