Early, but this could be "interesting" with the number of players out!

Assuming against Palace we get something like this:

Lloris
Emerson-Tanganga-Dier-Reguillon
Hojberg-Dele-Winks
Lucas-Kane-Gill

We then still have Gollini, Doherty, Davies, Ndombele, Clarke and if fit Rodon to come in for Rennais. The question is whether we a) play the "squad" players who started against Palace and will have to play against Chelsea anyway, b) rest most of them but play those who could come out for Romero and Lo Celso at the Bridge, or c) make 11 changes.

So the lineup could at its strongest be something like:

Gollini
Doherty-Tanganga-Rodon-Davies
Ndombele-Winks-Dele
Clarke-Lucas-Gill

Or, at its weakest could be really asking for trouble:

Gollini
Doherty-Omole-Rodon-Davies
Ndombele-John-White
Clarke-Scarlett-Markanday

Normally keen to play the youngsters, but I think the latter team could take a battering from Rennais which wouldn't be ideal for confidence etc. Real shame we don't have home to Mura or whatever for this one.

Depending on injuries, we could give a few a run out if they are ok.

It's difficult to pick the line up for the weekend, let alone this yet

Bergwijn and Skipp will be in at least one of the games' lineup

- edit, I see there's some new injury worries with them

Unfortunately this shows that letting Sissoko go without replacing him will hurt us during the season in games like this. Sarr will be with us next year but this season we could have done with him.

I think Saturdays team will be an interesting selection due to all the injuries so I would imagine our team against Rennes will look something like this:

Gollini

Doherty
Rodon
Dier
Davies

Winks
Ndombele
John

Gil
Moura
Scarlett

There is no need to risk any true first team players (baring Dier as we will need a recognised centre back).

Then at the weekend we can start with:

Lloris

Emerson
Tanganga
Dier
Reguilon

Hojbjerg
Dele
Winks

Moura
Gil
Kane

This is all on the assumption that none of Son, Bergwijn and Skipp are available, on top of Romero, Lo Celso and Sanchez.

So after this shit show and with Chelsea in mind, what to do. There is no depth to put out a decent attack without saving Harry.

--------------Gollini---------------
Doherty-Tanganga--Rodon---Davies-
------Hojbjerg----Winks-------
--Lucas-----Ndombele-----Gil----
-------------Scarlett-------------

Subs: Lloris, Omole, Emerson, Reguilon, Skipp, Markanday, Kane, John, Dele

God I dislike some parts of that

We're really having a shit time with injuries. Possibly, Stevie, Dier, Sessegnon, Son will all be out, limiting our options. We'll probably see more youth players for this game. I would go with

Gollini
Doherty - Tanganga - Rodon - Davies
Ndombele - Winks - John
Markanday - Scarlett - Gil

No point risking the likes of Skipp, PEH, Kane or Lucas. We really can't afford any injuries to them.

Keep the core first teamers at home, the internationals have sapped players like Kane Hojberg etc

Need to win this as dont want to be losing 3 on the bounce and let's face it, with so many out Chelsea is gonna be very very difficult.

Hopefully Tanguy has taken his head out of his arse and we can start him. Start Gil as well. Let PEH and Dele get a rest.

I'd be wary of going too weak. Rennes are no mugs and we could well be caught out like we were against Pacos. I'd probably start Son if he's available but with Scarlett starting as well so Son stays in his usual role.

Gollini.

Doherty.
Tanganga.
Rodon.
Davies.

Winks.
Ndombele.
John.

Gil.
Markanday.
Scarlett.

There is no need to take any chances on first team players in this game.

Until we lose 1-0 like we did when we underestimated Pacos and everyone loses their shit.

Yeah I don’t disagree to be honest but with the amount of players we have missing and getting injured then personally I think the Conference League needs to take a back seat. Imagine if Kane got injured playing against Rennes, we would have to basically just give up this season altogether.

As much as it's not ideal, with the injuries we have we need Lucas / Kane / Brian to develop an understanding.

Rotate behind them but these three need to play (at least an hour), Kane should be rested enough after his extended holiday. The others can rest when Stevie and Sonny get back.
