Think you’ve added an extra year there. It’s sell him this summer or next summer with release if that’s true. Even if it’s this summer can’t see us getting more than £50m he will be 29 and effectively a year left on contract. Tbh if we did sell in 18 months when he’s 31 for £25m I don’t see that as complete disaster. We are probably losing the last 2 years of his career when he will be in decline. I can actually see with his age how it’s actually quite a tricky decision what to offer him.

Hasn't he got this year and next year on his deal, and then we have the option of another year? I'm pretty sure that's it, otherwise he'd have a year left this coming summer

I just can’t believe that. Why would you have a year extension which activates a release clause makes absolutely no sense at all. One completely negates the other.

Totally agree mate, Hercules has just offered up an opinion that it's not as clear as that.

I succumbed, lemming like, sucked in to the numerous lines of assumption displayed in the press.

I'm confident that if Toby was not to sign then poch and levy are looking at all the options and probably will bring in another replacement, they will have the best interests of the club as priority number 1 so if that means selling him then they will.

If Toby was 23-27 I’d be much more upset about this. But he will be 29 this summer. In reality we really should be thinking about his successor anyway. We already have Sanchez and jan with Foyth in background and dier as back up. Obviously I’d like him to stay but I really don’t think it would be a devastating blow now we have Sanchez.

Verts is 31 in April also.

TBH I'd just give Toby the buy out clause he wants, sign the contract so he's here until he's 32/33 and then sell him for 25m or whatever abroad.

He's so important that it's better just to have him for the 3/4 years and therefore give time for tanganga, foyth, CCV, Sanchez or even dier to progress rather then worry about an extra 25m we could possibly get

That's crazy logic. He's the best CB in the league, and should be at his peak for another 3 years at least. We should be moving heaven and earth to keep him. We can't just replace every experienced leader with raw young talent and expect to be competitive.

With Everton buying Tosun and I think they will buy a really big striker In summer. I’d think about a punt on Calvert lewin I really like him. It’s pointless spending £30m on a player to play 10% of games if lucky. If we could get him for £15-20m worth a go imo. If didn’t work we’d always get money back. I think 2nd striker solution has to be a Foyth type signing 17-20 or winger/ striker but we already have Son for that.

On the subject of wingers. Since Puel has gone into Leicester I've been impressed with what i've seen from Demarai Gray. He looks stronger and more effective this year.

Gray is simply a worse version of Zaha and Richarlison. Having said that, we probably end up with Gray or Redmond as they are the budget version of what we need.

Just hope Levy have learned from our most recent attacking midfield purchases and buy one class player instead of 2 mediocre ones .

He said that Keita was joining Liverpool about 2 weeks in advance! Trust me, he’s a good ITK and I’ll have to hope he proves it all to you...
Personally I trust the ITK that delivers on here regularly which are @JJetset @Hercules @Trix And unless they come on and give up their info I reserve judgement on anyone else, but if your confident in this fella I wish you well.

Barkley
Sessegnon
Zaha/Gelson Martins/winger

If we did that (pigs might fly...) then I’d be confident for the rest of the season

Not holding my breath

I'd be very happy if anyone, any single one of you, who have filled up the last six pages since yesterday with a post about how much you want us to sign Barkley could mention even half a good reason for why he - a player who has been majorly injured and must have subsequent fitness issues - is soooo important in January.

We have a couple of scouts at the Palace game tonight, but you don’t trust my info ;)
I believe you as you've provided great info in the past, but why do we need to scout Zaha again? Surely by this point we know we want him, and what he can do. Is this more to show to him that we are still interested?
