Because they are different players, you wouldn't play Sandro and Capoue in the same team for example. Last season at Southampton Poch setup with Wanyama (holding mid) and Schneiderlin (Regista)

Capoue is like version of Sandro, both holding midfielders.

We were after Schneiderlin but couldn't afford him hence getting Stambouli instead.
Regista?

He was my favourite player for his stint here. First player I got on the back of a shirt in a while too. I hope he does well, but this truly made me feel sad.

You realise Stambouli is a DM right?

First Luka, then VdV, then Bale... now Sandro. Will never forget his performance away against Milan. Him and Palacios were massive.

I never felt a connection to Sandro but I'm still sad nonetheless (even though I think his sale was the right thing).

For me, the VDV and (especially) Bale sales were much worse. I can understand why people wouldn't feel the same though.

Bye Sandro. I hope you tear it up at QPR (especially against Arsenal but not against us :p )

Say what? Capoue is nothing like Sandro, doesn't have the defensive awareness or tackling, but is much better on the ball. Why should they be grouped as the same type of player?

I think Stambouli is going to be closer to Sandro type than Capoue is and certainly closer to that than Schneiderlin.

Because in Poch's system it's either/or which is why he chose Capoue over Sandro in that position, he was after Schneiderlin who is like Stambouli to play alongside Capoue not instead of.

Capoue is a holding midfielder, much like Sandro, no idea where you're getting the lack of defensive awareness from or tackling from, he has shown that he's capable of playing there for us, he may not be as strong in the tackle as Sandro was in his peak however he can do a job there.

Still in mourning. He's not even going to get a great reception from the WHL faithful this season, as we've just played them.

Stop making me feel sad

Dont really see what Capoue does tbh, I'd have Vlad in CM over Capoue all day long.

He's fine against mid-level midfields, but every time I can recall him going up against players with proper quality he's been shown up.

The only positive in this whole transfer is that he might knock Le Jooey on his arse.

JJ has said he was let go because of injury concerns hence the low fee.

Will miss the guy in a Spurs shit but I think his best days are behind him - and I mean that in terms of playing consistently.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see him in and out of the side at QPR - some good peformances here and there being the height of it.

Quite a group of ex-spurs there, Harry & his staff, Hoddle, Sandro, Niko, Caulker, Taarabt and Zamora. Jenas technically too, but out of equation. Hope they and Hull have decent seasons.

If anyone one has any inside info or knowledge on this please let us know, because this seems very weird to me.

Benitez stated that we were asking for too much money for Sandro (here) and then we sell him to a club in the same league for (Allegedly) only £6M. If I remember correctly, Benitez was trying to haggle from £12M+ to £8M.

Leads me to believe that either:

a)Levy attempted to play hardball, failed, and sold on the cheap at the last moment.

b)Medical failed at Napoli, we know of serious injury and sold to the only club that buys players on a whim without basic due dilligence (QPR/Redknapp; for case study see Christopher Samba/Joey Barton/Adel Taarabt/Oh my god this list could go on forever)

c)The true deal is a lot more than £6M, and is actually "Levied up" with clauses, we will either get more money based on personal or team performances, or we have a cheap buy back deal that effectively makes it a loan, so if Sandro picks up his form and fitness we can get him back at little extra cost.

If anyone has any info or ITK on this please let me know, the only other alternative is that Sandro refused champions league to play for QPR, which is quite frankly ridiculous.;
