Thanx a bunch you flippin mugs who were giving it all the "Mind The Gap" bullshit earlier this season. No doubt I aint the only one getting mouthy plastic Goon ***** larging it right now
Oh how the mighty have fallen if their target at the start of the season was to finish above us - our target was top 4, and we achieved it. Success. Unless their major objective at the start of the season is to finish above us - they have failed this season !!!
Its like them celebrating the 4-3 defeat to milan, after the hme leg - hollow success.......
And the fact that they are hoping chelsea win the CL just shows what complete muppets they are !!!

I couldn't give a shit what Arsenal fans say. We handed them 3rd place, that's what annoys me the most. We need to learn from this for next season.

The fact is the gap is well and truely closed now. We're as good as Arsenal and Chelsea now and i'd argue we play the most attractive football.

Boo hoo, you're getting grief from gooner fans. It's called banter, man the fuck up. You're not in school anymore.

Lol its so funny to see how we are divided between

The eternal pessimists who even if we finished 3rd today would have complained that we should have won the title.

The delusional optimists who try to convince everyone to look forward and forget the past and be happy - when really they are just trying to convince themselves.

I think that st totteringhams day picture pretty much sums up why I would have taken 4th last summer, but right now, I view finishing 4th a failure considering the season Arsenal and Cheslea have had...better bet they won't have it again.

Oh but then again like Harry says apparently I need a reality check, we all do.
Nail on the head that post.....

But Arsenal have finished above us yet again and scored 5 goals against us in 2nd half after being two down. While Chelsea have won the FA cup beating us 5-1 on the way, they are also in the champions league final and have multi millions to spend on new players, I don't think the gap has closed really.

Mullers your sensible logic is wasted in this thread mate, if people want to carry on believing they are happy with 4th lets just wait and see what happens should Chelsea win the Champions league final in Munich next week.

Oh and had Chelsea not done so well in the cups I'd be damn sure they would have run us a lot closer in the league

You say 'I can see' twice there. You're playing up to your negative side. You're negative because we've suffered for so long. I hope you see the tide turning.

Your right, but this summer there are going to big changes in our squad regardless of whether or not CL is achieved but if we don't get CL i can see the major clubs trying to poach our players and if we do then got to get rid of alot players, the uncertainty of the summer seemed to have a big effect on us

Arsenal on the other hand have already in effect got two new signings with Wilshere and Podolski then a third if RVP stays which it seems is very likely now apparently, also a major improvement for them is Steve Bould is taking over from Pat Rice, I hope I'm wrong but think this improve them defensively

Frankly our first 11 today should really shit all over their first 11 today but we seem to lack belief and had we overtaken today we would taken that off them

Another thing, Arsene was heavily criticised by the arsenal fans throughout the season and accepted that it was his responsibility and things needed to change and that he was the man for the job and that the fans needed to get behind him and support the team, whereas our manager response to our relegation form this season was that it was one of those things, the club has been in mid table wilderness for the last 20 years and it happens to Man Utd as they let a 8 point lead slip, had he sent a clear message to the fans like Wenger I think it would have been a major boost to players and the fans

Quote from Nasri today says it all.
Nasri: "I hope Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me, they should celebrate finishing 3rd and I'll focus on winning titles.

Easiest decision would've been to stay, picking up my money every week & walking into the team. Many people are doing this at Arsenal.

I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for 2nd best. I've proved it correct."

How long till van Persie follows him, I wonder?

Thank god for Dougal talking sense in this thread. Some of you act like we have a god given right to be finishing in the CL places. We don't. And fuck me, we still finished top four - it's hardly something to cry about is it! Be fucking grateful and hope that we kick on from here into next season.

And I wonder why spurs fans get labelled the most deluded and fickle fans in the premiership. Quite frankly, looking at some of the shite written here, we deserve that label.

Fuck sake.

Agree with OP. Leave the 'banter' (hate that word) untill the end of the season. We fucked up big time this season and next weeks result is vital. We are on the up i believe and i dont see any signs of arsenal getting the title or CL anytime soon..

The only thing that pisses me off is that Chelsea got to the CL final and as a result we don't know if we'll be in the CL yet. If Chelsea lost in the CL semis I would see today as a great day even if Arsenal finished 3rd. Arsenal fans will have enjoyed today for sure but they don't have a great deal to laugh about and they know it, despite the gap we had created.

They're used to finishing comfortably above us and they also know that if they don't invest this summer and keep RVP we can easily overtake them next season.

Agree with the opening post. The 'mind the gap' stuff was crazy considering the fixture list we had coming up from February. In all honesty I thought we would be able to hold them off but always considered that it would be far closer than the 10 point gap we had over them at that time. We had a terrible run just as they seemed to find some belief and well the result is that we ended up a point behind them.

I'm sure we will manage to improve over the summer (the defence looks to be the starting point with Caulker and Naughton returning and Vertonghen seemingly in the bag) and we'll have another decent go at it next year. I think Arsenal will unfortunately be stronger next year too.

I'm surrounded by gooners at work and so I make a point of keeping it all nice as - I didn't brag then and they'll probably not brag now as a result, even though they've seen all of the wind-ups, mails, banners. So I see where the OP is coming from but I don't think other Spurs fans having a go at other gooners is probably going to come back to him too much.

For me the point here is that we let our expectations go right up, quite reasonably, because we were playing so well and simply taking teams apart and had a huge lead over them. I am absolutely 100% sure that the intervention of the FA ruined our season and without that we'd be discussing who we'd like in the group stages and who to buy to make push for the title and how many points we'd beat the scum by next time

The FA had a choice of whose season to sabotage and decided it was ours. But really, if Hodgson was always their man then they should have approached him much earlier - giving WBA time to find a replacement and not go down.

Not sure it was solely the FA fault. What about the games where we dominated and still couldn't find a way to score. Or what about when Bale played all over the place as if he had started Tom believe his own hype? What about when ade didn't score for ages and Harry let Pav go four months too early? And what about Martin flipping Fulop yesterday? Worst goalkeeper I have ever seen play against us. We have had bad luck at times but we are spurs. This is our lot. I never said mind the gap. I hoped in silence. COY Bayern
