if we were ever like this at home, when losing, against anyone but london clubs or united then it was before my time. it is sad because people still try to start chants in these situations and there's no take up. i really don't get why more people can't have teh attitude of our away fans when they're at the Lane
Danger.... I've had an idea.... all as part of the idea of bringing atmosphere back, why not also try to bring back old fashioned chanting. It's so easy, it used to get almost everyone in the ground involved. Just the same instinctive clapping followed by maybe a single word. It's not even singing. No need to remember any special words. No real need to be part of the in-crowd devising the songs, and it could develop almost anywhere in the crowd, almost spontaneously.
It was standard fare for regular WHL crowds of 60,000+ in the 50s and 60s when Spurs were the best supported team in the country so we shouldn't turn our noses up at it just because it's gone out of fashion a bit.
You still get it occasionally, especially at those cup games with minnows where nobody knows what else to sing, you know say any PL team away to say Bognor Wednesday... it goes "da da dadada dadadada Bog-Nor" where each da is a clap. "da da dadada dadadada Tot-Num"
I wonder if the 1882 was to include this in its repertoire what would be the effect?
Just a thought....
