So, apparently 40 points means safety?

Currently sitting on 2 points with 30 games left.

By calculation then, we need to win 13 of the last 30 games to stay up?!?

All good news seeing as though Ramos has only managed 5 wins in 28 games!

Its a shambles.

Seriously, you can shout blame to the board, or getitng rid of our strikers, but we have a better squad than half the premiership, yet our manager cannot motivate the players or play tactics worthy of beating rubbish like Hull and Stoke.

It's so depressing, soooo depressing.

Thing is, we dont have Carlos Tevez to keep us up do we? It's a circus at the minute.

Our last few games are shocking too.

Yeah. Although I'm against constantly changing our managers, you have to wonder how a manager so highly regarded like Ramos can only win 5 out of 28. And this is with a squad that half the teams in the League would like to have.

Highly doubt we'll make 40 with current manager and players. I just hope the safety cut-off points is a little lower this year.

Or even a LOT lower!

Its too early to think about the 40 point mark right now. Maybe its better to think about us getting 15-20 points by the new year. I'm sure we could do better in the 2nd half of the season than the 1st anyway. Especially with the January transfer window to help. But also, we may not have as many Cup Games then either. So the closest we can get to half that tally by the new year, the better. We have 15 home games left too this season, so a maximum 45 points to play for at WHL. Those will be very important. We need to turn our home form around, if nothing else.

I don't think we need 13 wins to get to 40 points - probably 10 wins would do that, almost certainly 11 would ensure it

but I think the realistic safety mark is 42 points

we need 7 points from each batch of 5 games coming up to get 44 pts in total and cast iron safety

in a typical 10 stretch that would be 14 points gained from 3/4 wins and the rest from draws 5/2

41 points in total might be enough

so a typical 10 stretch would need 13 pts (3 x 13 + 2 we have already)

3 wins 4 draws 3 defeats for example

its a hard task, Im struggling to see where our next points will come from.

Bolton H - Can we really get any points - I'd say 1 point if we are lucky.

Arsenal A - 0 points

Liverpool H - 0 points

Man City A - 0 points

Fulham A - maybe 1 point

Blackburn H - I'd hope for 3 points.

Everton H - 1 point

West Ham A - 0 points

Man Utd H - 0 points

Newcastle A - 0 points

West Brom A - 1 point

Wigan A - 0 points

Pompey H - 3 points

Stoke H - 3 points

Bolton A - 1 point

Thats 14 points I reckon we could get, which takes us to Feb 1st on a total od 16 points. (14 points in 15 games).

Those who say what I have predicted is unreasonable, then look at our last 28 league games.

We are in a relegation battle, and by Feb, we could pretty much be dead and buried.

:) brasil -it can make things a little easier looking at it like that

but most of us know how hard it will be - whichever way we dress it up

Remember you do get a point for a draw. 8 wins, 14 draws and 8 defeats will also see us stay up. There are many alternatives for this combination.

all very true, but seeing though we have yet to manage a win and have lost 75% of games this season, im worried.

we will need to win the games we have left against the likes of west brom, fulham and bolton. even draws in those games won't be good enough. this sunday's game is a must win. if we don't win i feel that ramos will have run out of time. i can't see him actually getting the sack until after the liverpool game, but anything other than a win against bolton will seal his fate i reckon.

I dont see what relevance last seasons form has to this one. We were plenty safe after the Cup Final. We pretty much put all our eggs in one basket in the Carling Cup. We wont have that same frame of mind this season until we're completely safe from the drop.

Exactly! It's 38 points from 30 games. Shouldn't be a problem IMO.
