At least we're put straight into the group stages of the EL. No pissing about with some obscure Israeli team or whatever.

Hmmm... After much reflection I think all is not lost.

Ok so no champs league means probably modric will go - cos he on a long enough contract we can ask for and get 50 mill for him. As good of a player he is it's a team game, as Chelsea have shown throughout the champs league talent/skill takes u so far but having mental strength, commitment and heart is is more important than a single player. If Modric goes he goes, it will accelerate the development of sandro who has the potential to be as good as Yaya Toure and with Parker and Sandro I think it will make us more attacking as the full backs will have even more freedom with them two screening the back 4 and dropping in.

Bale, I don't think will go... Levy will only sanction one sale and think it will be modric over bale.

No champs league also means we can focus solely on the league, we showed for long periods this season that we are good as any other team in the PL - and with a few shrewed investments i honestly think we can challenge for the title and we will have money available to bring the players in.

As someone mentioned earlier, it's about the glory coming 3rd or 4th is good, yeah we get to play massive teams in the biggest tournament in the world but id rather win something - aim high, aim for the title and for those of you think it's unrealistic a good man once said,

‘It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.’

Aim for the title and champs league will come...

And finally, despite how low ur feeling today, just think not so long ago we were a second rate team with second rate players and would finish mid table with no last day drama or anything to play for, as a club we have grown so fast over a small period we would have never dreamt of being in the position we are in now on and off the field back then.

Keep the faith.

Come on your spurs!!!!

Gutted yes but seriously, some of the posts...

Give me an example of a knee-jerk reaction here. Are you against knee-jerk reactions or just negative ones? I ask because my current feeling is certainly not knee-jerk, it's the same one I've had for about 4 years. All knee-jerk posts will be negative but all negative posts aren't knee-jerk

The knee jerk reactions were in other threads.

I would imagine he wasn't referring to you then :)

So far this morning I have read posts about Harry out, Levy out, sell the club to a billionaire, THE worst day ever in Spurs history, etc.

If some of those aren't knee jerk then I really don't know what is.

I'm old enough to remember many, many worse moments as a Spurs fan. And I'll take our current hierarchy over some billionaire who doesn't give a fuck any day of the week. The only thing I would change is Harry :D

A little tip for everyone don't watch Skysports News for 3 days and you will be fine, anyway I am off to watch the Spurs Legends at St Albans later that might help cheer me up.

I went on a tour of the stadium yesterday morning as a 30th birthday present form my mrs. One thing that struck me was the amazing sense of history around the club, and what we have actually done for world football as a whole. I was absolutely mortified last night, dont get me wrong. But what does it mean? Modric and bale will probably leave. But if they dont want to play for the team, fuck em. There will be others. Klinsmann left, carrick left, campbell left, and we still progressed. The stadium deal is done, and i think people are underestimating what thats actually going to do for us.

We are still in our transitional phase, make no mistake. And im so excited about the future if our current achievements is anything to go on.

Yes, the OS says the draw is at the end of August and our first game is something like September 10. So no pre-season games in Europe. Mind you, I'll be surprised if Redknapp treats it as anything other than a reserve team competition, like he did last time.

It's fucking embarrassing.

Sure, we fucked up 3rd place and a 10 point lead or whatever it was, but we finished 4th which would usually have been enough. This year it wasn't the case. We all knew the rule, we just didn't think we'd have to apply it because of our position in the league around January. If it was Arsenal right now we'd be having a laugh. How many of you would want UEFA to change their shitty rule then?

Get a grip. We've got the whole summer to sort out our signings, keep our top players and figure out what we need to do in order to beat everyone around us. No CL leaves us in a bad position with some of our potential signings but what did Newcastle have when they bought Cisse, Cabaye etc? Nothing.

I believe Levy knows what he needs to do, he's realised we can't spend low and hope for the best. He knows we need top players. Not necessarily £30m signings but pull off a couple of £10-20m players and I believe we can shoot ourselves back to the top.

Stop fucking whining and support your team.

COYS

i love you. just for that. i love you.

Grudgingly, I have to accept that the OP may have a point, I mean, this club is clearly cursed, there's no point railing against fate.

Clearly, you couldn't have started a thread about knee-jerk reactions in this thread. When I say "here" I mean post your example here and explain why it's knee-jerk rather than negative.

I accept that there's a lot of negative posts that are knee-jerk but there's also a lot of people that are fed up and yesterday was a focal point for that. If Bayern had won it wouldn't have made a bit of difference to my opinions, it would have just been a silver lining.

Last season I posted a poll about Redknapp when we were doing poorly and I got accused of knee-jerking then (2nd most popular phrase after "fickle"). The thing is it wasn't but some people don't want any negative opinions expressed. If you do it when something goes wrong you're accused of being a knee-jerker and when things are going well it's not the right time or you get asked why can't you just enjoy the good times etc.

Wow. Sanctimonious much? How about cutting your fellow Spurs fans some slack for being (rightfully) pissed off at the cluster fuck of a season we've had?

If you can't let off steam on a Spurs forum where the fuck can you?

There's a phone box on the Finchley Road...

This season we had enough points on board at the beginning of our 'Blip' to hang on th 4th spot rather than having to chase 4th for the entire season. Yes it hit all of us hard to have lost our advantage and relinquish 3rd spot, but I think I can take some solace in how good we were for most of the season and hope the players and manager learn from their mistakes and apply themselves so we can go that extra step next season.

The thing is, there IS always next year, and I do believe we will get to where we want to be within the next few years.

I remember how excited we were when we qualified for the UEFA cup a few years back, now we are gutted that we are in it. Good to see we are not satisfied with not making CL, but realistically we have more chance of winning this if we take it more seriously. Myself, I'm still looking forward to a few decent Europa league aways, and hopefully a final in The Dam to cap it off.

Don't bank on it. They'll probably blow a three goal lead in the last five minutes.
