Apparently he has a year left on his contract and despite this years goals, it looks like United woud sell him for around £10m (Tgraph has an article on the subject today). Question is would he fit in to Harrys style of play, especially our counterattacking style? He clearly slows Utd down when he plays (as does Carrick IMO) but would we have him back for that kind of money, over some £30m+ prospect that usually goes to Man Citeh and doesnt do much? Im not a believer in second comings as a rule (Keane and Defoe are priving me right thus far) but thought id try and gauge opinion.

£10m for a the top scorer in the league for 2 good seasons

Prick or not, we're in no position to turn something like that down

Still a very good player but can't see him being very popular with the players in the squad who were previously his teammates, basically said (probably rightly at the time) "you aren't good enough for me".

as long as it would not upset some of the players (who were there when he started his shenanigans)

I would take him in a heart beat.

To me as a yidsider looking in, he just doesn't seem to be enjoying his footy at OT, i bet he hankers for those great days at the Lane, and the lovely Squirrels we had...

That's assuming his mentality is right - literally, when it was obvious he wanted to move from us we might as well had played with 10 men, such was his involvement, or lack of.

He is far, far, better than any of our current strikeforce, and should still have a few good years left in him (unlike Drogba and Forlan).

A side with an attack force of Bale, Modric, Huddlestone, Vdv, Lennon, and Berbatov would be beautiful.

However, I can't see Harry going for him.

It would surely be at the expense of VDV in the team though becasue VDV and berbatov as a front pair is so slow i think WHL would be sucked into a vortex created by anti-speed.

agreed - we'd probably have to play Lennon Modric and Bale behind him.
That woud be pretty tasty though wouldnt it.

I don't think either are particularly slow as such. Sheringham and Klinsman were much slower for example.

Berbatov/VDV combo would be OK by me.

in a heartbeat. Best player for us for a long time. until Bale and modders came through. would complete us and score loads. He would also have to stand in the centre circle and apologise for being a knob!

Seriously disagree. Keane and Berbatov worked magnificently and neither players were lightning quick. And Defoe is a quick player, but how often this season has he been able to use his pace against defences?

Lack of speed hasn't been our problem scoring goals this season. It's been lack of speed of thought and intelligence in breaking through tight defences with killer passes and clever movement.

Modric, Van der Vaart and Berbatov could dance through an opposing back line, with Lennon and Bale providing the pace from wide areas.

So yes, I'd be all for bringing Berbatov back to Spurs. If he could give us at least two seasons of the quality of the two seasons he gave us already, I'd be fine paying upto £20m for him. That'd mean we'd have had a world class striker at the club for four (possibly more) seasons and it would've cost the club about £150,000 at the very most. Even for £17m, the club would've made a profit on him.

As I said in the thread in general football, come home Berba.

I thought it was always a shame that Modric and Berbatov never played together, Berba was always frustrated with the service he got from midfield but with Modric, VDV and Bale now in our midfield, I think he'd revel in it. He didn't behave very well at the time of his move away, but I'd certainly take him back. The football we'd play with him in front of our midfield would be sumptuous to watch, and he's still got at least three seasons of quality left.

We'd just play possession football - like top teams should - utilsing the passing of Modric and Hudd more. Bale and Lennon would then be our counter-attacking players.

vdV has partnered Huntelaar before, someone who makes Berbatov look like he's on fast forward.
