I think this board have taken us as far as they can, done a good job, but I don't believe they'll ever be able to establish us as one of the very top teams in the country.

No doubt I'll be shot down

I dont think its the boards fault mate. I think we have to appreciate that Levy and co have done a good job. They really have. The thing thats really holding us back is the money situatiuon now, and as we havent got a 60k + stadium or a sugar daddy, we just cant compete. I dont think anyone else could do a bteer job i really dont. I stand by my opinion that if ambramovic or the sheikh hadnt made two clubs their playthings, we would be well up there.

Donna Cullen has just said that having invested 100s of millions on players over the last few years we have done our major investments. Although the CHAIRMAN(NOTE NOT THE MANAGER)is always looking at opportunities every transfer window.
Party line or Bullshit????

ah thats just the party line....hardly going to announce that we are itching to splash the cash, pay no attention to that...otherwise why are we holding on to you know who if we aint going to capitalise on it..ie trasnfers this window.

agree with everything you've said, just think it's beyond our reach as it is for most clubs.

Based on what criteria?

Because we don't spend £200k on wages?

I don't think you have a sophisticated enough understanding of the constraints the Board have to deal with to make that call.

Basically you want a Billionaire to chuck money at us

What do you propose we do about it?

Seemingly prepared to back the team with money when things are going wrong, but when we achieve their objective it's job done, close shop.

I guess it's the boards fault for the individual mistakes that cost us so many points last season. It must also be their fault that our strikers suddenly stopped scoring goals? All they've done wrong in my opinion is failed to replace Berbatov but that's easier said than done.

We have a new training ground and stadium on the way so I don't think you can make an argument that they've taken us as far as they can. There's still more to come, we just have to try not to spaz out over every little thing that doesn't go our way 100%.

Which other Premier League board would you seriously swap with right now?
(You can say Man City or Chelsea but they're not sustainable in the long run)

Do you know what a board is? Do you Know who's on our board and whatthey do? And why they should be sacked?

In lieu of any serious debate, this thread is now about Paul Mahorn.

I would consider Paul to be a rubbish name

Furthermore, the player in question was even more rubbish than the name Paul

A lot more rubbish in fact

I hope we have our current owners and chairman for many years to come.

Our current owners have managed to assemble a squad of players capable of competing against the very best in the world. We finished 4th in the league a couple of years ago. We finished 5th in the league last season, which a large majority of fans considered a disappointment because we had a squad good enough to finish higher.

We'll make a couple of signings this window and we'll, once again, go toe to toe with the rest of England's big teams at the top of the table.

And we'll be doing so while we're building a world class training facility and pushing hard to build a new stadium.

Our owners could decide to cash in on our valuable players, such as Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Sandro and Lennon and put that cash towards the new stadium, with the notion that we can take a couple steps back now in order to make a couple of steps forward again in five years.

Instead, Levy's insisted that we're keeping all of our best players to compete at the top of the league, trying to bring in a couple of top class players and doing so without allowing a new stadium to interfere with it.

With our current ownership, we'll be considered amongst Europe's elite in five years, thanks to the new stadium, we'll have the financial clout to go toe to toe with any team.

Long may Levy's reign continue.

The 5 other clubs around us all have bigger grounds, can pay higher wages, all of them apart from City have bigger reputations when it comes to attracting players, whereas City have bottomless pits of money and the fact that modern football is dictated by finances and wedon't have enough.

Chelsea and City have completely changed the UK footballing landscape with their vast wealth. They would never have been in this position if they were properly run, as they were both days away from financial meltdown, which then resulted in a cheap and easy sale to the Oil Barons to get them out of the shit and the rest is history.

Not a great deal we can do but accept that's how things are, it might possibly change if we get a new ground but that could be years away and wages might have moved on further by then

You obviously read my post didn't you? where did I blame the board for anything? I never said I wanted to replace them but I just think this is as good as it gets with them and the state of the modern game.

Try reading posts properly before you 'spaz' out I even said I thought they'd done a good job
