I thought I'd start a thread for another possible candidate, Murat Yakin
De Boer seems the more logical choice. Plays a possession based style that would mean a continuation of what AVB started.Knows two of our players very well, Vertonghen and Eriksen, and would hopefully get the best out of them. Has a legendary reputation as a player, which would be the polar opposite of AVB, which could be considered as something we need right now.
But I know who I'd rather watch play out of Basel and Ajax (it's not Ajax). How can you not be impressed by this team that has handed out footballing lessons to Spurs (twice), Chelsea (twice) playing quite frankly some of the sweetest counter attacking football you'll see. All this in a group of players that cost literally penny's in comparison to that of ourselves/Chelsea.
There's something there with this guy, no two managers are the same of course, but if we're looking for the next Klopp, I'd say this guy is as close as it gets currently. I'm not gonna post a load of meaningless stats to back up this post, as it's just my opinion, but I will leave you with this...
Jürgen Klopp is pondering the similarities between himself and Arsène Wenger, between his Borussia Dortmund team and Arsenal which, on the face of it, appear to be numerous. Klopp, however, does not see it. "He likes having the ball, playing football, passes … it's like an orchestra," the Dortmund manager says, pretending to play the violin. "But it's a silent song, yeah? I like heavy metal."
I guess I prefer Heavy Metal.
